Protesters Burn Burkina Faso Parliament Building by OchukoisBlack(m): 12:46pm On Oct 30, 2014
Protest has been ongoing for days now against the Presidents plan to have the Country's constitution amended to enable him run for another term in office. Members of parliament were supposed to sit today to amend the clause allowing the president rerun for a fresh term of 5 years after about 27 years in power.

Protesters angry at plans to allow Burkina Faso's President Blaise Compaore to extend his 27-year-rule have set fire to parliament.

Correspondents say the city hall and ruling party headquarters are also in flames.

A huge crowd is surging towards the presidential palace and the main airport has been shut.

MPs have suspended a vote on changing the constitution to allow Mr Compaore to stand for re-election next year.

Five people have been killed in the protests, among the most serious against Mr Compaore's rule, reports BBC Afrique's Yacouba Ouedraogo from the capital.

That's what we call 'Peoples Power'.

For Nigerian, it's more of talk, talk, talk and talk...but no power and our rulers are daily whipping us silly.

The people of Burkina Faso not only need to burn down the Parliament building, they need to revolt and chase out Blaise Compaore from power, what else does he want to achieve that he has not achieved after 27 years in power?

If only Thomas Sankara were still alive ....

If it's for a good course, why not?

They made a statement at the house of power where they will be heard, and not just sitting in an Ojota to talk and claiming that they are occupying the whole country.
