The All Progressives Congress has described as “utterly insensitive and absolutely callous” the decision by President Goodluck Jonathan to declare his second term ambition a day after almost 50 students were killed and about 80 injured in a suicide bombing in Potiskum, Yobe State.
The party in a statement on Tuesday, accused the President of “dancing on the graves of the students” as well as of all the victims of the Boko Haram insurgency in the country.
”Since this President has chosen to celebrate a national tragedy, Nigerians should also be ready to celebrate his electoral failure next year,” the party said the statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
”Today, the three North-East states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe are in danger of being overrun by Boko Haram and over 650,000 Nigerians are internally displaced in those states by the insurgency. Yet, President Jonathan says he puts Nigerians first. Lies have never worn a bolder face. The truth is that for President Jonathan, it is Jonathan first, Jonathan second, Jonathan third, Jonathan always!”
The opposition party added that with the latest “act of blatant hard-heartedness, Jonathan was only continuing along his well-trodden path of acting without deep introspection.
AC said, ”When about 60 students were killed in the terror attack on the Federal Government College, Buni Yadi, in February 2014, President Jonathan never visited the scene to commiserate with the families of the victims. When over 80 people were killed in the first Nyanya bombing in April 2014, President Jonathan went dancing ‘Azonto’ in Kano less than 48 hours later. And when almost 300 girls were freshly abducted in Chibok, President Jonathan neither acted fast enough to rescue the girls nor visited the village. His Administration even denied anyone was abducted, until 19 days after!
”This President has therefore established a pattern of putting his political interest above the security and welfare of Nigerians who voted him into office. This President has trampled upon the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which makes the security and welfare of the citizenry the raison d’etre of the government’s existence.
“It is time for Nigerians to respond in kind by trampling on his political ambition and sending him back to Otuoke.”
The party queried the logic behind the Safe Schools Initiative of the Federal Government when over 70 students were killed and more than 100 maimed within a week in two separate attacks targetting a religious procession and schools in Potiskum alone.
“The Safe Schools Initiative will remain a mere tokenism until the fundamental problem of insurgency, which has claimed thousands of lives, is conclusively addressed. Mr. President, what Nigerians want is not an isolated Safe Schools Initiative, but a Safe Nigeria Initiative,” it added.

Who never saw this statement coming forth?? Well, certainly not me, why? Because nothing good can come out from the janjanweeds, that uses their arms group to destabilize the country and president when ever they think is right, no apc presidential aspirant got a bomb blast a day before their declaration, now its time for the presido and they struck trying to see if it will stop him, but sorry he's unstoppable.

I'm not surprised! That's the reason why innocent Children were blown up mercilessly yesterday in school so that this kind of press release could be made today against their perceived number one enemy.

God will judge!!!!!

I wish APC did not make this kind of press release today, i would av been the first person to stand against whoever accuses them of being behind BH. But with this action i doubt if that is not the case. BECAUSE THE WHOLE THING IS JUST LIKE A WELL PLANNED AND CALCULATED EVENT. WITCHES CRY YESTERDAY A CHILD DIES TODAY, IT VERY OBVIOUS WHO IS RESPONSIBLE.

APC CHANGE YOUR BLOODY TACTICS!!!!!!!!!!!!

[size=13pt]That is why you blood sucking Jan-jaweeds have been spilling innocent children's blood abi?

God will judge you Jan-jaweeds for this bloody game you are playing with the lives of Nigerians.

Your bloody politics will not intimidate anyone from voting GEJ. He has gradually been transforming Nigeria from the destruction caused by most Janja-weed politicians when they were in power. I don't know how hard that is for you to understand that Nigerians are not intimidated by your bloody politics.

Are we supposed to condemn the President or the insurgents? Is opposition all about talking without thinking? What's the duty of the state governors of those states? Even with emergency rule, was the Democratic structures removed? if they take salaries & allowances even with emergency rule, why can't they work too? What's the correlation between PDP functions and these bomb detonations? Are we supposed to fall for the insurgents scheme to paralyze governance and inject fear into the citizenry?

Callous and insensitive indeed!

One is forced to question the level of intelligence of the nimrods who gathered at eagle square while kids are being buried die to his ineptitude! Only parent who used his children for rituals and devil worship cam go to the level of celebrating the death of his kids we ask if ebele or any of the pdp goons had lost their kids in potiskum would they have eagerly assembled at eagles square?

Vote wisely, gej is the worst thing to have befallen nigeria!

This is one problem I have with the APC. So president Jonathan should not declared his intention to run for the office of the president because there was a bomb blast yesterday?? Ok, what if there is bomb blast from now till election, so he will never declare at all??

Na, there is nothing GEJ could have done to stop the declaration. It was already planned before the bombb blast. Let's be sincere, stopping it will be difficult. The declaration a day after a bomb blast is not the problem.

The major problem is the fact that he is even contesting after the recklessness and mismanagement of the last 5 years is the major problem. He has no moral justification whatsoever to contest again if he truly loves this nation.

GEJ may love this nation but 1. He is not showing it 2. As is the case in all relationships, love is not enough. To rule a nation, you not only need to love the nation and it citizens ( his handling of boko haram betrays whatever claims he may make about loving the nation and her people ), you need to have the rulership skills.

You need to be able to tackle sensitive issues no matter whose stone is groan.

Based on this alone, GEJ should go home.

This is it, the law is to go after those that orchestrated the bombing.

The right thing for GEJ to have done is postpone his declaration.

When GEJ keeps allowing bombs to go off like that and blame the opposition, and then continue with his schedule, it is simply insensitive of him.

This is a thing of common sense.
