Allianz is the best stadium followed by the camp nou
and based on what criteria? definitely not capacity. undecided
Re: Best Stadium In Europe by dayokanu(m): 4:38pm On Jul 26, 2009
If capacity is the measure of a good stadium then we should be talking about Olimpiysky stadium in Kiev Ataturk in Turkey
Re: Best Stadium In Europe by biina: 4:42pm On Jul 26, 2009
In terms of capacity, Camp Nou and Wembley would be top of the list

The estadio de luz in Lisbon is equally massive.

Ruudie,

You be correct person jare. No mind that bush boy called biina.
Re: Best Stadium In Europe by biina: 2:12pm On Jul 27, 2009
You cant judge a stadium simply on aesthetics. Nou Camp is almost 1.5x Allianz. For me Allianz is too small to be the best stadium in europe and I doubt it has features like the slide out pitch at Veltins.
The top criterion should be capacity before anything else, and that puts Nou Camp and Wembley at the top of the list. I would rule out any stadium that is below 80k
Re: Best Stadium In Europe by dayokanu(m): 3:39pm On Jul 27, 2009
How can you rate anything based on capacity??

So te besy vehicles to you are luxurious buses? and the best houses are 1000 roms houses

whats the use of a stadium with 1million capacity but crappy looks. I guess the Maracana in Brazil is the best stadium in the world or the Aztec
Re: Best Stadium In Europe by biina: 6:08pm On Jul 27, 2009
I never said being the biggest means the best, but being one of the biggest is a key criterion.
You cannot tell me a small 30K stadium is the best in the world simply because it looks good.
Allianz Arena, with a UEFA approved capacity of 66k does not qualify.
Outside of the lighted foil, what other criteria did you use in picking AA over the other stadiums with higher caoacity?
Re: Best Stadium In Europe by hustler(m): 8:01pm On Jul 27, 2009
Allianz Arena without a doubt

End of Thread.

Re: Best Stadium In Europe by dayokanu(m): 6:12am On Jul 28, 2009
Do you know Barcelona are trying to copy the model of the Allianz arena?

Foster's project is pragmatic and the obvious choice of Barca board, but it wouldn't be unique, actually it copies Allianz arena technology, only the panel size and colours differs from it. Foster is a legend among the architects, but his project is 1:1 to the stadium in Munich (especially the roof design).

Re: Best Stadium In Europe by biina: 7:21am On Jul 28, 2009
and your point being?
You are yet to answer the questions of which criteria you are using outside of aesthetics?
Abi why didnt you call the thread 'the finest stadium'? undecided
Re: Best Stadium In Europe by dayokanu(m): 8:00am On Jul 28, 2009
A stadium with 66,000 capacity is big enough coupled with the aesthetics.

Its so glamorous that you so called Nou camp wants to steal architectural designs from the Allianz arena

Abi why didnt you call the thread 'the finest stadium'?

Neither was the topic called 'Biggest stadium'
Re: Best Stadium In Europe by biina: 8:28am On Jul 28, 2009
I didnt say Nou camp was the best but only that 66k is too small, when there are almost 20 stadiums with larger capacities.
You have said nothing about the pitch, covered seating etc.
Until there is an agreed criteria, you cannot just conclude on looks alone and capacity has to be one of the criteria used.
Re: Best Stadium In Europe by biina: 8:36am On Jul 28, 2009
Examples of criteria: architecture, capacity, incline/steepness, acoustics, proximity of stands to playing field, line of sight, transportation, atmosphere, safety, amenities, popularity, etc
Re: Best Stadium In Europe by dayokanu(m): 8:42am On Jul 28, 2009
Almost 20 stadiums with bigger capacities? WHere you mean in Europe? Then name them.

If you want to know about the Allianz arena check

http://www.allianz-arena.de/en/fakten/allgemeine-informationen/

A 66,000 stadium is ok for any intent and purpose why should you have a 1million capacity stadium?

or of what use is the Olympicstadium Rome, Turin and San Siro when its half full most of the time

In all those criteria you used Allianz floors them all

architecture- 98% the great Nou camp has to steal it,

capacity, 66,000 is a good capacity for any event

incline/steepness,?? acoustics- llianz leads,

proximity of stands to playing field, No tracks at the Allianz brings fans closer to the match

line of sight, transportation, atmosphere, safety- German stadiums are the one of the safest in Europes ,

amenities, popularity- Allianz all the way

Compare to wembley
Stats and Facts

General facts
The stadium has a circumference of 1 km
There are 107 steps in the trophy presentation route – the old stadium had 39 steps
The new Wembley encloses 4,000,000 m3 inside its walls and under its roof. This is the equivalent of 25,000 double-decker buses or 7 billion pints of milk
The deepest of the piles that form the foundations, at 35 metres, is as deep as the Twin Towers were tall
The new pitch is four metres lower than the previous pitch
Each of the two giant screens in new stadium is the size of 600 domestic television sets
The total length of the escalators is the same as a 400 metre running track

The seats
The stadium has 90,000 seats with NO obstructed views
The rows of seating, if placed end to end, would stretch 54 kilometers
There is more leg room in every seat in Wembley Stadium than there was in the Royal Box of the old stadium
The seats are spread over three tiers: lower 34,303, middle 16,532 and upper 39,165

The arch
The arch is 133 metres above the level of the external concourse
With a span of 315 metres, the arch is the longest single span roof structure in the world
With a diameter of 7.4 metres the arch is wide enough for a Channel Tunnel train to run through
A representative from every county in England was involved in the construction of the arch
To read more about the Arch Fascinating facts click here.

The roof
The stadium roof rises to 52 metres above the pitch. This compares to the 35 metres tall Twin Towers of the old stadium
The roof is over 11 acres, of which four of the acres are retractable

Facilities
The soft drink dispensers can pour 30,000 cups in a little over 10 minutes
Approximately 40,000 pints of beer can be served during half time in a football/rugby league match

i dont see the point of the argurment here. the truth is, most of us here have not visited any of the stadia we are arguing about. For the records, according to FIFA, architecturally, shalke 04 stadium is the best.
Re: Best Stadium In Europe by dayokanu(m): 3:00pm On Jul 28, 2009
Allianz has a capacity of 69,901. 99 spaces shot of 70,000.

How can anyone call a 70,000 stadium Not big enough? Thats ridiculous
Re: Best Stadium In Europe by biina: 4:56pm On Jul 28, 2009
Under UEFA regulation only seating capacity counts. No standing is allowed for European games.
The seating capacity of AA is 66K.
Wembley has 90K seating capacity
Nou camp has 99.8k seating capacity (1.5x AA)
AA is small when compared to all the other 80K+ stadiums and one of those would be the best.
