They are also highly intelligent beings.
In Satan's case, you need to understand how powerful he was in heaven at the time, so powerful yet he wasn't satisfied! He wanted to rule over Heaven. And because of this freewill, he decided to rebel against God.
God had created him a beautiful and powerful angel, but through his pride in himself and greed he became evil.
