Shortly after I wrote about
Ookla’s report about how
Nigerian Internet compares to
the likes of UK and US which
we consider internet
“superpowers” (hint: On the
average it is faster), I dug a bit
more into the report and
found some other interesting
bits info regarding the
Internet Service Providers
(ISPs) here in Nigeria and how
they stack up to each other.
According to the report, here
are the top 20 Fastest Internet
Service Providers and their
average speeds:

Another interesting take away
from the report is the ranking
of the three major cities
according to internet
download speeds. Lagos
boasts the fastest internet in
Nigeria with an average of
4.08Mbps, Abuja comes in
second with an average of
3.34Mbps and Port Harcourt is
3rd with an average of
1.03Mbps.

I disagree with this report. I believe the Internet speed you can get some times depends on how much you can pay. Glo for instance can sale dedicated 10mbps Internet speed to you if you can pay for it.

Smile broadcasts up to 21Mbps. You can't get this speed in most US and UK, but it burns money like fire. The good thing about it is you can reduce the speed to 2Mbps, 5Mbps, 10Mbps, e.t.c thereby saving money. I don't think there's any Nigerian internet provider currently faster than smile.

I'm also using spectranet and it broadcasts at 2Mbps regular or you can upgrade to 4Mbps. It's more economical.

yeah..the ucbrowser is the one showing the real speed. 2.5MB/s is still ok
