Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is getting closer to a widespread rollout with each passing day. This has a lot of people wondering what is going to happen with the upcoming update. So today we want to refresh your memory about which countries Samsung has already updated and which countries could possibly be next.

Fast Start

Google officially launched Android 5.0 Lollipop on November 3rd and it has made quite an impression on the Android community. Many of us thought that it would be well into 2015 before Samsung even began working on their Lollipop release but they have proven us wrong. It only took a little more than 30 days before Samsung pushed out their first Android 5.0 Lollipop update. The update was sent out to Samsung Galaxy S5 customers in Poland and it brought a very refreshing face lift to the device.

It took only a couple of days before Samsung switched gears and started sending out another batch of Android 5.0 Lollipop updates to their customers. Around December 5th we saw first reports of Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop update rolling out in South Korea. If Samsung was able to keep up this pace, they could have the entire roll out finished by January or February of 2015. However, instead of moving onto another country after South Korea, they went back to Poland to push out another Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5. This update was not 5.0.1, like some of us were expecting, but it was a bug fix update that was needed for their TouchWiz interface.

Slowing Down

Like I said, we were hoping that Samsung would be able to keep up with this pace but it has sadly not been the case. We were hoping to see Samsung branch out and maybe start delivering the Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop update to carriers across Europe or even the United States. Some were speculating that Samsung, and the carriers, were saving the update for the holiday season while others are thinking it might happen around New Year’s. Sadly though, there is not any concrete evidence to say this is going to happen or not. As always, we are left to wait until an official announcement is posted by Samsung or the carriers.

Samsung typically stays quiet about these types of things although sometimes we see an announcement made on one of the social media websites. More often than not though, we will be waiting for carriers to publish a page about the release or for customers to report they have received the update. We know that Samsung is also working on getting the Lollipop update for the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4 sometime ‘in early 2015′, so they definitely need to finish this Galaxy S5 roll out as soon as possible.
