Italian striker posts image with two Staffordshire bull terriers at local rescue centre along with the
question, 'Who can guess their names?'
The legend of Mario Balotelli, or the enigma that is

Balotelli, was embellished again on Friday as the
Liverpool striker posted an image on social media of him with a dog under each arm at a rescue centre, along with the cryptic comment of "Met these guys on the local rescue centre and now they have a new home. Who can guess their names?"

So has Balotelli really adopted two abandoned
Staffordshire bull terriers? The Italian is well known
for his acts of altruism, some of which, however,
such as stopping to give a homeless man bundles of
cash, he has admitted are not true. His legend
precedes him, not least thanks to his rich history of
crazy acts.

If true, Balotelli will not have taken in the two white
staffies on a whim, as most rescue homes run the
rule over prospective new owners and carry out
checks of the homes-to-be amongst other
procedures. Balotelli will not have simply walked in
with a couple of leads and walked out with two hounds.

Balotelli is clearly confident that, as his manager
Brendan Rodgers has stated, he will not be moved on during the January transfer window, but the adoption of the two dogs is also a pointer to him believing he will be playing his football in England for a long time yet.

Of course, one possibility, given the Italian's silence
after posting the image on Twitter along with the
question about their names, is that he could have
posted the image as a prank. What is sure, is that
until confirmed, this story will have legs.
