Anyone who could afford to build such building, ought to have installed modern fire suppressant systems

Hope they had insurance & hope no life was lost

Non-existent fire emergency service in APC controlled Ibadan.
Very shameful

E no go better for you for that statement. I have always been suspecting PDP as the culprit behind this fire.

In all their years of government in Oyo state, PDP didn't build ordinary even shopping complex or create an enabling atmosphere for such. All they were known for was feeding and funding political thugs which was championed by Adedibu back then.

Now Ibadan has three huge malls and counting, including the presently largest one in West Africa and you're here ranting APC this PDP that.

Here to correct the impression created by this thread.

Contrary to what the OP said about the mall completely burnt down, only a few shops were actually affected. Filmhouse was badly affected though. But the shops around filmhouse were still open yesterday.

There's another filmhouse outlet at the Ventura mall, which I think would greatly benefit from this unfortunate incident as it had previously not had as much customer base as the other malls in Ibadan.
The palms mall at Ring Road badly needs a cinema in my opinion.

How many hours does it take for a building to burn down to this extent?

And yet no iota of meaningful activity by the fire service.

Is there no provision in a mall for sprinklers or smoke alarms that could have helped.

APC has consistently demonstrated its inefficiency in governance and disaster control.

I hope they have insurance

This is so sad..

This is one place that give hope whenever am in ibadan for relaxation other than beer parlor.

Shame on Nigerian Government for not having a fire department. But when there is no government water supply how would the Mall even have the resource for sprinkler or maybe they should have dig kanga like everyone else.

This is a real big loss and very sad indeed.

I will guess electricity shortage will be main cause, Mr NEPA bring and takes light whenever they want. Shame on Nigeria for no water and Electricity. Hope una open your eye and think deep before you vote again.

Yoruba people will say "orisa boo le gbe, leave me as you met me".... if one government no do you good, choose another. Am not saying NOT campaigning. smiley
