Whats the fuss... people wear hijab everyday in Nigeria?! Well YES, Allhamdullilah! Hijab is not new or openly fought against in Nigeria. Still some people are still scared of the concept and hence like to condemn / point accusing fingers at muslim women wearing Hijab . So they get to blamed the Hijabis for 9/11, Bokoharam and all sort of crime they know nothing about. To some it is more about their urge to dominate, which they exhibit by trying proof they know better or are empowered to rescue Hijabis from oppression or ignorance. This they do without considering the sister's personal rights, believes or convictions. Silently our sisters are being bullied in school/ at events/ works/on the road . What could be the big deal having a piece of cloth over your head?! You never know what we feel, till you walk in our shoes. Muslim women around the world together invite both Muslim (non-hijabi) and Non-Muslim women to participate in an worldwide event by wearing Hijab for a day . Support our right to choose what we wear. "TRY ON HIJAB" on the 1st of Febuary 2015. You can also Join us on the Green lawn, Off Governor's Road -Alausa ikeja( by Ikeja City Mall Out Gate.) from 10am Insha Allah to learn more about the Hijab. By Allaah, this is not a part of Islaam. The Prophet ( solaLLaahu alayhi wa salaam) was sent with the complete religion. His companions were the most righteous of generations and never in the history of the three rightly guided generation was such an action reported. The motive behind it might be good, but in Islaam actions are divided into two 1. Ibaadah (religious actions) - These are actions which have to do with the Deen. They revolve around what Allaah says, what HIS prophet said or did and all injuction if the Deen. 2. Mu'amalaat (mundane or everyday action) - These are your normal day to day activities which aren't directly related to the Deen. Since the topic of interest is on Hijab which is a commandment from Allaah, it would be classified under Ibaadah. Now for Ibaadah to be accepted it has to fulfill two condions; 1. Ikhlaas An-Niyaah (sincerity of intention) - An act of worship is only accepted when it is done sincerely for the sake of Allaah. Anything short of that would result in wasted efforts. The Hijab day campaign may pass this test depending on the individuals involved. 2. Mutaba'a ( In line with the Sunnah of the Prophet "solaLLaahu alayhi wa salaam" ) - Mutaba'a can be literally translated as 'following' or 'in-line with'; hence in this context it is refering to an act being in-line with the traditions of Allaah's messenger. The tradition of Allaah's messenger are gotten from what He ( solaLLaahu alayhi wa salaam) did, approved of, what was done in his presence and he didn't speak against. The Hijab day campaign fails this test because there is no record of it or something similar to it anywhere in the history of Islaam. If you say it wasn't needed then, we say to you that it was even more needed then as the Muslims were just learning about the religion. If you say it is to show the beauty of Islaam and Hijab to faithfuls other religions, we say to you that it was more needed during the time of the Prophet because the Muslims were in the minority and information on the religion was not readily available to non-Muslims. If you say what is bad in it, we say to you that all innovations started of as 'seemingly' good things; these innovations later degenerate to despicable acts such as Kufr and Shirk. The story of Nabiy Nooh is an example. However the religion is complete and nothing would be added to it except that which shouldnt be part of it. Allaah has perfected this religion and has made Scholars present on the earth and granted them the knowledge to clarify an issue we might have. Nevertheless, we see some 'speakers' parading themselves as authorities saying there is nothing wrong in the campaign. We know such people, they only seek to win the attention of the masses. Those who aren't of such motives are simply ignorant of the tenets of Islaam; we say to them, go back and learn at the feet of the Scholars with humility. For in their tutelage lies knowledge, wisdom and success. 1 Like |

diyobdw: My dear sister, as a striving Muslim, I understand your plight and frustration but it is obligatory upon us to remember that every good lies in adhering to the sunnah and every evil lies in contradicting the Quran and sunnah. Now that it has been celebrated, has the bullying stopped or reduced?! have the nursing students on OAU ceased to be compelled to put away the hijab?! Added to that all those things you described above are just rags not the hijab Allah commanded the believers to use. The hijab of Allah has the following conditions #must not be transparent #must not be an adornment in itself #must be free flowing i.e not tight #must cover the whole body including the feet so you see the difference between the HIJAB and a mere scarf or head cover May Allah increase us all in beneficial knowledge and steadfastness upon the sunnah 1 Like |
