The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has uncovered plans by the Rivers State Government to distribute expired or contaminated rice to Rivers people.

The bags of rice which are in their hundreds of thousands are presently stacked in the old Government House, Port Harcourt

Agents of the Rivers State Government are deceitfully repackaging the contaminated rice by removing the old bags which bore the expired date. Consequently, the expired commodity is being stuffed into new bags with new expiry date on them.

In all its ramifications, the PDP condemns this sinister action by the Rotimi Amaechi Government as the State would be thrown into chaos, should they succeed in distributing the ‘deadly’ rice.

Rivers people should beware of this evil plot and reject the rice when they are eventually brought to them.

As a political party that believes in the sanctity of human lives, the PDP cannot sit and fold its hands while the lives of millions of Rivers people are put at risk by desperate politicians who want to grab power by all means.

Against this background, the PDP has written to the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) to investigate and impound the rice.

APC, a party full of desperate people will do anything to win elections. Their plan to distribute expired rice is another pointer to the fact that APC do not care about the Wellbeing of Nigerians but themselves. If they could think about sharing expired products to the general public, to win elections at the State level, what will happen at the Federal level
APC's level of desperation knows no bounds.
