Nigeria's health care system is bad!

No wonder politicians go abroad for medical check up

There's corruption in.every sector of the nation... imagine what the lil boy would have undergone at LASUTH. Later some people will say Nigeria is far better than India.... still finding that country Nigeria is better than apart from those just recovering from war.... we need a leader that would tackle corruption upto the lowest level not a fisherman telling us stealing isn't corruption.

Please with due respect, what ever you don't know please ask questions. Who told you, Omonigho is an Edo indigin? The boy is from delt state and that is why Gov. Of Delta state got involved.

Ask our politicians now you will hear the health sector had been transformed and some stupid and good for nothing followers will start thanking them for transforming the health sector.

Naija problem most of the time is not the leaders but the followers who aid and albeit them. Thank God the guy is better now. I THINK I NEED NEW CHAIN FOR SCORT my DOG.

Our health sector generally is in shambles but that aside, the characters of our health personnel especially the nurses is terrible. Nigeria nurses will eye you (size you up), shout at you, stylishly insult you and generally be rude to you as part of their "care routine"!

Our doctors nko, especially the senior consultants, those one will not come near a patient until the patient is a quarter to die! As tho, they are angry you used a govt hosp and not their private hospitals!

Infact, this country ehn, we blame govt all the time but our attitudes causes part of the decay in all sectors!

When the boy's father accused LASUTH medical personels of neglect, they went line and sinker on media lying to Nigerians. So what do they have to tell us this time?

All Nigeria government doctors and nurses are totally shithole. All they know is money and strike.

This what you get in a state run by a Governor who derives joy in ignoring the health sector. APC state hospitals cannot offer anything good for the masses. The dog has just demonstrated the character of APC leaders- violence.

The problem is, there's no job satisfaction in Nigeria health system. I believe people would begin to see the reason for the incessant strikes. Naija health system is in shambles due to decades of neglect.

It's not a NEWS joor. What do u expect? Nurses in our various Hospitals lack Moral and Ethical consideration. All what they are after is to collect money. They are worse than Police. I pray for his quickest recovery!

I was diagonised for Fistula in ano and was referred to a private specialist consultant surgeon by my Doctor for surgery but as a result of the cost, i decided to check into our General hospital. Well, time will not permit to narrate my experience now,i have a diary of my interaction with the Doctors, nurses & administrative staff of the General hospital which i will make public someday but to cut the long story short, one of the best decision i made was to pick my file and run away from General hospital, break my bank account to pay the private Specialist Consultant Surgeon and today i can testify that our Doctors &nurses in General hospitals are not humans..Shame.

That's because the incentives in India, and the doctor patient ratio is not same as in Nigeria.
bengreat:
"at LASUTH, the nurses would open his head for dressing at 6am and leave it open for the doctors, who would not show up till 12pm. And when they did, they would ask the nurses to close it up. I remembered that no doctor showed up for two weeks during a particular time. That was when I got mad because his condition was becoming critical.

“But in India, they dressed his wound three times a day, and at least five special senior doctors attended to him every day.”

Imagine!!!

Does that justify their actions to let people die for common ailments? Where is our conscience? Pay them a billion they will not change, we have lost all moral values as a people. Shame.

NAIJA HOSPITALS:
1. NO PAYMENT, NO TREATMENT.
2. MOST OF OUR NURSES ARE DAMN LAZY AND DISRESPECTFUL. AND THEY CAN GOSSIP EEH...
3. U ATTENDED 2, BASE ON UR INFLUENCE/POPULARITY IN THE SOCIETY.
4. SENIOR DOCTORS HV 3 OR 4 BED ROOMS PRIVATE HOSPITAL SOMEWHERE.
5. NURSES AND DOCTORS WILL NEVER TAKE UR CASE SERIOUS UNTIL U START SHOUTING OR THREATENING TO CALL THE COMMISSIONER/MINISTER FOR HEALTH.
6. DOCTORS OPEN PHARMACEUTICAL STORES NEAR THE HOSPITAL, AND DIRECTS THEIR PATIENTS THERE, INSTEAD OF THE HOSPITAL'S PHARMACY.
7. DOCTOR A'S REPORT WILL ALWAYS CONTRADICTS DOCTORS B'S REPORT.
8. 90% OF OUR HOSPITALS LACK PRIMARY MODERN EQUIPMENTS LIKE ANESTHESIA MACHINE, VITAL SIGNS MONITOR, SURGICAL MICROSCOPE ETC...
NOTE: I AM NOT CONDEMNING, JUST SAYING WE SHOULD IMPROVE.
AM I THE FIRST 2 COMMENT? PLS HW DO I GET MY EGO/GIFTS?

As a doctor....I certainly say there is room for improvement....and no gift for you BTW. grin

No wonder Nigerians will pay millions to travel to US UK or India for the most basic things like child birth.

Shame!
We have mostly very useless set of humans as doctors and nurses in Nigeria.
All they know how to do is to quarrel among themselves,
Demand for increase in their salaries and other senseless demands all the times,
Go on strike,
Expect patients to worship them coz they seed themselves as small God,
Treat patients anyhow e.t.c.
Most of them don't even worth to be called Doctors because they are very clueless and all they do is trial and errors.
Re: Boy Attacked By Dogs Got Infection At Lasuth - Indian Hospital by Nobody: 7:48am On Jan 31, 2015
Your government hospital is underfunded because the amount of kudi spent on health care is poor.

We cannot do proper infection control....because we do not have sufficient facilities for that purpose. Then there is the fact that some drugs are poor quality.

We do not have enough health care personnel.....and most of them are poorly equiped.

Perhaps we need to privatize all teaching hospitals....and redirect funding to pry and sec health care....and to training more medical people. Then....we can have the kind of improvement we want.
