MI -24s have almost similar airframe design with the super frelon(Sa-321) French.

For all those saying shame to the Nigerian army that chadian helicopters are bombing Nigerian territory, you all should remember that this operation is a Multi National Joint Task force(MNJTF) operation agreed upon by four countries Nigeria, Niger, Cameron and Chad against Bokoharam. At this point we all should be concerned about the outcome of this operation which is hoping that these operations helps to crush those insurgents.

While not an attack helicopter , it has rocket pods which against BH technicals and apcs that can be devastating. There is possibly a door gunner too and can unleash lethal fire upon an unassuming BH

Shame on us as a country, this is where we put ourselves in the first place, for a country like chad with a GDP lesser than that of lagos to be more effective in the fight against BH than us. With there little resources, they could still manage to muster something good, (at least a decent military formation), kudos to chad...shame on nigeria (the most corrupt country in the world). am not misleading anyone bro, different news outlets have their own stories to write and even though your own source is with a different story I believe it might be connected but with different type of reportage.......the link provided claims the story was gotten from AFP and I believe an international news outlet such as AFP cannot just wake up overnight and cook up this story

They are troop carriers which are more common than Gunships. Shooting helicopters down is VERY difficult! In Somalia the Americans lost three during the so called Black Hawk Down incident. This was because they had to be used at low level over an urban environment allowing for cover and 'stalking' by ground combatants. Even so this took almost the entire supply of rockets that the Somali warlord had available!

In Northern Ireland the most sophisticated Guerrilla Army in the world (the IRA) managed to shoot down exactly ZERO British helicopters in over 30 years!

Troop carriers are not meant to engage enemy troops but to deliver friendly troops close enough to move to engagement. If they are fired upon then the plan has already gone wrong!
