Introduction
Our company is a one stop logistics firm, a leading physical Bunker trading and marine lubricants company is to recruit an Assistant Manager Marine Operations for its operations in Nigeria and West Africa.
Company
We are purely an independent marine logistics company providing petroleum products and marine lubricants to hundreds of vessels, rig sites and other areas in Nigeria and West Africa.
Job description
The Assistant Manager Marine Operations will be responsible for managing resources, human capacity, and financial, fleet and developing fleet size for the company.

The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
• Oversee the Marine and Offshore Operations Business with its fleet of vessels and barges
• Grow the fleet to three times its current size in 5 years through strategic contract acquisition and business expansion.
• Managing the day to day activities (support and operations) of the marine and offshore interests of the company and provide feedback to the Assistant General Manager regarding technical operations, administration & logistics, and management of the marine fleet operations.
• Client services, crew management, technical, maintenance and commercial contracts management and ensure 95% availability of vessels and equipment.
• Create Business development / Marketing materials where appropriate to support the Business development / Marketing activities.
• Take responsibility for the design, operation, and improvement of the marine operations and systems
• Initiate, develop, implement and monitor relevant policies and procedures for conformity and compliance.
• Ensure that Company Assets and staff are fully equipped with insurance, equipment, registration, licenses and communication tools required to fulfill their objectives. Develop and manage the departmental budget including leading cost saving and revenue generation initiatives and innovative/ creative ideas.
Desired Skills and Experience
• Master Mariner/retired tanker vessel captain with certifications will be a major advantage
• Minimum 10 years of broad knowledge and experience of technical marine fleet operations, management, operation of commercial vessels, shipping agency activities, vessel husbanding, cost control.
• A degree in business administration, marine operations or a related field will be an added advantage.
• Customer Service and Relationship Management Skills
• Pre-requisite knowledge and Experience in a similar position. Good knowledge of the Oil & Gas sector or Experience in an Oil & Gas company.
• Knowledge in Project Management.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Ability to work well under pressure, Goal oriented Proactive and takes initiative.
• Ability to work individually under pressure and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality complex work
• Strong analytical and information ordering skills
• Strong leadership. Excellent Customer Service skills, commercially minded and entrepreneurial.
• Attention to detail and accuracy. High level of confidentiality regarding corporate information
• Excellent computer literacy – MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word
Other qualities
• Strong leadership skills.
• Must be organized
• Sound reasoning and sound judgment abilities.
• Corporate client management experience
• Excellent communication and relationship skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to interface with all levels of personnel
• Good presentation and interpersonal skills
• Fluent English is mandatory Excellent written and verbal English skills
