Corruption is a worm within our society and cancer to economic and political development, but it can also be of benefits to some people to sustain their life and maintain economic advantage. Here I list some common but realistic advantages of corruption.

1. It unite different political, ethnic, religion and economic group regardless of their difference.

When there is corruption, conflicting actors and people with different opinion and different political background come together and uphold their relationship in order to preserve their economic advantage, hence, corruption is the key in managing the problem in developing countries like Nigeria. We should ask ourselves what is uniting the 3 major ethnic groups in Nigeria? I will say is corruption, the evidence abound everyday. The only way to settle most regional conflict is through corruption, you settle a particular person to help proffer solutions even though the truth is glaring. If we are to study the major political party in Nigeria, then one thing keep them going? "Corruption" a particular person might be so powerful and influential that you have to impress him or her before peace can reign. If an hausa man stole an igbo man or yoruba will ask why? When? How? This question will lead to distribution of proceeds and result in silence.

2. Transferring of wealth from upper class to lower class

Some may disagree on this but I think is the fact. Through corruption wealth are transferred uniformly. We have heard of some individuals that stole substantial amount of treasures to build a personal platform for themselves, in this area some people are gainfully employed while others benefited from the stolen wealth. Wealth are easily circulated within a short period of time. Nowadays politicians that stole billions of dollars are force to spread the money across zones if they are to win any political seat or office.

3. Reduces unemployment

Yes corruption reduces unemployment. How? We all know what we call "nepotism". When you have a cousin in one of the government administration, this person may find a place for his/her family members. Let's be sincere, how many of us will get to a place of position without helping our family? Maybe I'm not. The family members you help have some couples of friends, they help their friends too while their friends do same. We have seen some politicians putting their family members or children in a place of position, don't forget the children/family members also have those they want to help. Hence, some selected people are gainfully employed even though they might not be competent.

4. Promotion

Through bribery and kickbacks some people skyrocket their promotion. They move into positions they ought not to be because some people have been compromised. That promotion aid some certain benefits to the people closer to them.

5. Sustenance of life and economic advantage

Here in Nigeria, the only method of sustenance is corruption. We have replaced "culture with corruption", corruption has now become our way of life. How many graduates here in nigeria can gain employment into the oil sectors without bribing someone, am not saying there are no God grace because I believe in it, am only been realistic. Even in our universities, for you to do your clearance or whatsoever, you must give tips if you want to get any ones attention. Meaning we have allow our sustenance to lie on corruption

6. Corruption is an excellent way of increasing product sales of a company even if it assures low quality

Note: am not supporting corruption am only highlighting the advantages we have created for ourselves
