For the third, must d number appear once in the solution?

correct

Hmmmm. Well you are correct but if I am to be pedantic then technically its wrong. The question asks for 'my relationship to john', not John's relationship to me. in other words, the correct answer to the question as posed is 'I am john's Daughter-in-law' grin

To make it simpler: You have 9,6,11 and 3. Draw up a mathematical equation that will be equal to 24 using ALL four numbers. very simple.

a. 9+(6/3) + 11 +(6/3)
b. 9+11+6-(6/3)

Nice attempt but Wrong answer. You can only use each number once in d equation. The answer is actually very simple.

I love this section, u guys are really smart.
To keep this going;

20 pigeon cost #1
1 parrot cost #1
1 peacock cost #5.

How will u buy 100 birds in total for #100. How many of each birds will u buy ?.

Hint: please pick ur pen and paper(s).

Note; I got this question somewhere in this section. But I bet u , there is a solution.

3(11-9+6).

very good attempt but wrong. If we use BODMAS, addition cones before subtraction meaning ur equation would give us

3(11-15) = 3(-4) which is obviously not equal to 24.

3(11-9+6)....

actually you are right. though I think it would have been better expressed as 3(11+6-9).

The answer could also be.

(6-3)× 11-9 = 24

If we buy one parrot for #1, we will be left with #99 to buy 99 birds.

using a long method of trial and error to get d right proportion of it will lead us to spending #95 to buy 19 peacocks and spending the remaining #4 to buy 80 pigeons.

Eliminating the first letter gives same word when the remaining letters are spelt either ways
