Also Babatunde, Iyabo and Yetunde.

Those are circumstantial names

Tunde literarily mean "comes back".

Babatunde means " Father (or grand father or great grand father) had come back".

More like reincarnation stuff. Baba has reincarnated. Yorùbá culture seems to believe in reincarnation.

Are Salako and Talabi not Muslim names?

Btw the child born with the amniotic sac is Oke.

They aren't Muslim (arabic) names.

True. But gatiano's interpretation of it is much different though.

Bhuumite, VickyRotex, semitunde ; You all must agree that latin was not the original written method of the Yoruba people. We had our own writing system which we have all forgotten. what a forgetful people we are, anyways, that isn't our fault.

Tunde original is Tunday or Tunaday, it means one with strong faith.
Babatunde- one wise with strong faith
Obatunde- king with strong faith
Yetunde- wise woman with strong faith
Olatunde- wealthy one with strong faith
etc.
It is a very ancient name. Every African name as we know it is been mis pronounced- They are all the names in the book of life. we will get it all back!

What is your brand of weed please?

^ do you not speak Yoruba?

or, where were you raised? I see you have French as your signature.

update: I see you said you're based in Senegal. Did you grow up there?

anyway, Oke means a child who was born with the amniotic covering still intact.

any other meaning is based on tone and might be something different.

I was part of the thread a while back. That 'Orun' is what I take as the wellspring of the Yoruba, not the circumstance of birth of a child. So, my humble submission is 'oruko amutorunwa' means names with philosophy derived from the wellsource.

Op that name in this topic "Amutorunwa" in Igbo it simply means "Prick wey senior pikin"

Dunno your intentions of putting it their when you didn't emphasise on it in your post.

One of the premature posts on the front page
Ibo language can be crude and vulgar
