Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was among the first set of graduands as the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) held its maiden convocation ceremony in Lagos. He received a Postgraduate Diploma in Christian Theology in the institution that he restarted in 2002 to increase access to university education in the country. A year after leaving office, he enrolled in the Christian Theology of NOUN.
Vice-Chancellor of NOUN, Professor Olagbemiro Jegede, in his convocation speech, said Chief Obasanjo vigorously pursued his studies on full time basis.

“He is a shining example of how seriously a student should take his learning. Like everybody else, he sat for all the examinations using his anonymous matriculation numbers, and by our internal quality and security-proof control measures, his papers were marked by different tutors located in some of our study centres including Damaturu, Minna and Yenagoa,” Jegede said.


Among those present were the Sultan of Sokoto, Said Abubakar III, the Oba of Lagos, Timi of Ede, Minister of Education, Dr. Sam Egwu, Ambassador Michael Omolewa, Nigeria’s envoy to UNESCO, National Assembly members, Ekiti State Governor and others.

Why wont he take learning seriously if he is idle and has billions of dollars in his bank accounts?
Even the dumbest person on earth dare not fail a theology exam in this situation.

Ah well, at least when the good pastor is liquidated by armed robbers out of spite over his theft of all the money that could have been used to provide electricity for Nigeria, he will be on a first-name basis with God, and that will certainly provide some entertainment at the Pearly Gates when His Excellency is promptly re-directed to the fires of hell.
