Amina, Hauwa and Aishat Mudi (three sisters) who survived the blast narrate their experience

For Amina Sani Mudi, a 19-year-old 100-level student of Medicine at the University of Jos, it was unbelievable that she escaped the terror.

She said, “I had just finished my Chemistry paper, which I had from 3pm to 6pm and it was raining. As I walked to the gate of the university, I called my sisters who were at the School of Forestry to buy one of the JME recommended books. I walked down and joined them as they were already waiting for me in front of Bauchi Park. We stood and were waiting for a tricycle to take us home. As we stood waiting for a tricycle the next thing we heard was a loud explosion. Initially, I thought it was thunder because it was still drizzling. But somebody shouted, ‘bomb, bomb,’ and we ran to a nearby pharmacy for safety. I saw a girl whose hands were mutilated and she was calling her father. We saw pieces of human flesh all around the place. The thought on my mind was just to run for safety.”

She added amid tears: “If you say you are a true Muslim, no religion, even Christianity, preaches that anybody should kill another. I want to appeal to the terrorists to stop because God does not sanction killing.”

I didn’t know we were wounded — Hauwa

Hauwa Sani Mudi, 21, is the eldest of the sisters. She holds a diploma certificate. According to her, when the bomb exploded, she thought that it was from a nearby transformer. “I thought that it was an explosion from a transformer until we heard somebody shouting, ‘bomb, bomb.’ I ran with my sisters to a nearby pharmacy because we were told that the soldiers could start shooting and we tried to contact our father. We did not even know that we were wounded.”

The youngest of the sisters, Aisha, said she was afraid and could not explain what was going on as the bombs exploded. With bated breath, she stated, ‘’I am thankful to God for sparing our lives. He is a good God.’’

I could have lost three of them in a day — Father

Their father, Mr. Sani Mudi, is a politician and a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance. He was full of appreciation to God for sparing the lives of his three daughters.

An elated Mudi told SUNDAY PUNCH, “I was in far away Bauchi when they tried to reach me, but I could not pick the call because I was delivering a lecture. When I finished, I called them back and they told me what happened. I had to rush back to take care of them. I give glory to God for sparing their lives — I could have lost three of them in a day and that would have been a major disaster.’’

I don't know what would have been the agony of their father if he had lost his three daughters. It would have been very painful. Thank God for saving their lives.

To the dead, may they rest in the bossom of the lord
To the injured, wishing them speedy recovery.

This bomb of a thing is so worrisome.

People living in the safe zones don't know what this people are passing through. Imagine living in a city where you don't know what will happen next. I couldn't stay in abuja without fear if it will happen when I visited the city last November.

If another person corpse is being carried, it feels like log of woods.

If we are not careful, no place will be a safe zone, then their plans to create civil war will materialize cos if it happens in osha, I strongly believe that all northerners in d east will be killed sparking violence of reciprocation in other zones.

God bless and help us to overcome this monster of terrorism.

We thank God for their lives.
Aisha, Aminat and Hauwa are all Islamic names.
Terrorism has no religion
It affects everybody.
Terrorist may hide under the tent of Islam to perpetuate their evil acts due to ignorance.
May God save us from evil people.

The worse kind of thing to happen to a family is to see them lose their wards. Where would there parents have started from? So happy for them though, and may the good Lord protect us from terror.

Every night, I go to bed thinking about those in the heat of the insurgency. Until you are personally affected or a close relative of yours is involved, you won't understand the pains they go through on a daily basis.

May God console the thousands that have lost loved ones, lost their valued property, lost their sense of worth and may He restore all the years the locusts called Boko haram have eaten. Amen
