Proud to be a Lagosian from Epe, if you are from this town, just drop a comment and lets see how many of us are on Nairaland, and this is a platform to meet other indigenes. invite us to your events.

Epe town has its own heritage.

Epe town shares boundary with Ijebu Ode to the
north, with Ikorodu and lbeju-Lekki in
the west, while to the south it is bordered
by the Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean and
to the east by the creek to Benin River.
Epe town is the capital of Epe
Division, the largest of the five
Administrative divisions of Lagos State,
Nigeria. Other major towns in the area
are Agbowa-Ikosi, Ilara, Eredo, Odoragusen,
lbeju, e.t.c.

To clear confusion this great land was founded between the 13th and 15th
centuries by a band of migrant hunters
led by Urakaloye (Huraka ).

Epe and its coastal areas have two broad ethnic
groupings, ljebu and Eko.
Epe town has a number of cultural
manifestations such as traditional festivals which includes:
Okosi (Boat Regatta)
Agemo
Agbo (Agbo Remi-Reke)
Ebi
Kayo-kayo
*Permit me to add the Ojude oba of Epe.

All these festivals get tourist attractions. They
serve as catalyst for commercial activities
because their celebration usually attracts
people from far and wide who ultimately
get involved in fanfare and merrymaking.

If you have such experience, you wont miss it for anything.

Lagos State, particularly Epe
Division is rich in culture and tradition.
Generally, Epe people undertake strict
observance of these festivals due to their
belief that such can guarantee peace,
stability, progress and good health.

Which part of Epe are you from??
