The Awujale of Ijebuland just tell president Jonathan truth, no Oba can go out and tell his subjects to vote for a particular candidate. Jonathan has been scam by those Oba who collected money from him.

Yet Mr Barcanista says Tinubu crowned Oba Akinolu king so he has to do Tinubu's wishes

Since 1840 the Lagos Kingship hs always been a hotbed of rivalry amongst descendants of Ado. Divination settled on Akiolu but Erelu believed the treaty of 1860 had given ownership of the throne and the palace solely to the Dosunmu line. Anyway, long story in that one ...but to cut it short, so they recruited outside influence to disqualify Akiolu. Obasanjo and Erelu put weight on the kingmakers to find someone else - from Dosunmu lineage.

Iyaloja got involved, her son got involved, Ladoja Adele got involved...Awujale got involved and their efforts paid off against President and Erelu. Akiolu sailed through the selection process.

This is what Barcanista referred when he said Tinubu made him King. Nobody made him King...he was the one Ifa divined. Beside....same exact scenario happened to Akintoye in 1845 and Iyalode of Egba, Madame Tinubu played a part in that episode.

LMAO....you don't know so don't argue this. It is weird that people have no idea what's happening before the type. Oba Akinolu's issue with Koro has started since Koro was a Chairman in the AD.

Obanikoro was not always an adversary of Tinubu dude (You really don't know much of Lagos politics) in fact he used to be Tinubu's boy which seems to be why he keeps getting ruffled by Tinubu. He just wanted more than the Party was willing to give so he left. Remember he was a senator in the AD? How was he an adversary then?

Amusing how Obanikoro the person alleged to have started a fire in his office which led to the burning of city hall (A story Bode George brought up in January so this ain't beer parlour gossip) is not the PDP's point man in Lagos.

But Tinubu did not contest in the 2007 elections did he? He was an outgoing governor, Fashola was the party's candidate who was duly elected at the primary unlike Obanikoro who rigged his way in. Hilda Williams won the Primary, she was declared the winner only for the PDP national headquarters to announce that Obanikoro wil be their candidate.

I doubt you will remember and acknowledge that the PDP in Lagos has been synonynous with fraud and electoral malpractice. The evidence is even in the last PDP primary.

I just sit back and LMAO when folks say they know and understand Lagos politics when they don't know where ot starts.
I am really thrilled by your facts and figures. Kudos to you man. I wonder why someone that the PDP Nairalanders are celebrating could be flawed shamelessly just like that. How on earth he doesn't know that Tinubu served between 1999 and 2007? He thought he's good at what he's doing like FFK and AyDee, but you just taught him a takeaway and priceless lesson.

I

1. Political Allies but who was under who?

2. *yawns*

3. Everyone knows Afikuyomi. The dude who always ran for governorship without putting any seriousness to his campaign. lol. Tinubu was part of the struggle, he was once a senator and yet someone thinks was a nobody. smh

4. Bode George and Koro became opponents when Hilda Williams was robbed at the PDP primaries held at TBS. I doubt you even remember that.

5. Koro has always been Tinubu's boy just like Agbaje. They just want more even and when they saw that they could not win the primary or emerge as candidate, they left. Same as Femi Pedro

6. wait, no 6, okay

7. You claim Fashola was nothing and is still nothing but Fashola still as the record for the highest number of Votes any Nigerian will get from one single state in 2011

And as usual in the usual manner, you ignore the truth here. That Obanikorp emerging the PDP's candidate in 2011 was a resuly of the PDP manipulating primary electrions and Jimi Agbaje winning the primary last year was also a result of the PDP manipulation their own primary. was that not why Obanikoro went to court before he was bribed with a ministerial post? I am sure you will also ignore this cheesy.

JK is still kidding but he will perform better than Ayo Dosumu

You are going back and forth which I don't really fancy.
4. The Primaries in 2007 at the National Stadium(not Onikan) between Koro and Hilda meant different things to both camps. However, George and Koro's political rivalry predated that. I have given you the preamble.

5. Koro never left AD because he couldn't win Primary. He was already a Senator in 2005 and there was the favored PDP's Williams for 2007 Guber. Koro left a comfort zone(AD) to PDP. Again, I don't know why you are keen on what you seem not to have idea of. Agbaje was NEVER Tinubu's boy. That is a farce. Agbaje has been prominent in Afenifere, he never served under Tinubu. He refused the Offer of Senate and Deputy Governor slot by Tinubu in 2007. In fact, he refused any "freebies" from Tinubu.

Koro never ran for 2011, Ade Dosumu did. Dosumu has always been George's boy, he is the man to unseat Remi in the Senate. As for Afikuyomi, he has been Tinubu's associate not boy. I wonder how you define who a boy is... As for Fashola, I won't repeat myself.

Your post shows you know nothing just like Mynd with respect to Lagos politics.
barcanista:

1. Obanikoro has NEVER been AD Chairman
2. He was the was Deputy Chairman of NRC in the early 90s.
3. Obanikoro became Local Government Chairman of ILagos Island Local Government in the early 90s
(As at these period, Akiolu was still a policeman)
4. The issue of city hall happened when Obanikoro left as LGA Boss. As at then, it was never issue of Akiolu. That was during the Military regime.
5. Obanikoro was never TINUBU's boy. He served under Tinubu. In fact, Tinubu made use of his goodwill in 1998 Governorship election the the Island. Akiolu was no where to be found.
6. Obanikoro opted for Senate. He wasn't dashed the ticket by Tinubu. As at then, Afenifere had a split between AD and PAC. Koro, Afikuyomi and Tinubu held sway in AD, while Ganiyu Dawodu(I heard he's late now) and others formed PAC (or so). Funso Williams and others left for PDP.
7. AKIOLU was made Oba in 2003 by Tinubu's influence. People in the Island know the story.
8. I don't know where you get your story from, but the 2007 was between Koro, Agbaje and the renegade AC members on different front, and Tinubu led AC. Fashola was only a front.
9. Bode George has been political adversary of Koro since 1998 in the Island. In fact, Bode George refused to support Koro in 2007. He even boasted that Koro will never be governor. the rivalry between Koro and George is pure politics over the control of PDP. PDP has always been factionalised since the death of Williams.
10. Akiolu is an Oba, I wouldn't want to insult or denigrate him, but his beef with Koro is a front for Tinubu.
Followers of Lagos Island Politics know what is up. That's all...

Do you need a dibia to tell you that's a subtle way to tell Jonathan off? And you think the Awujale is really not campaigning for Buhari and Osinbajo? For your information that's a cool way of telling a president you are a failure and there's nothing I can do for you, you don't deserve another term as it is performance driven. While flying to the west 8 times a week you people should remind him of prophecies of the men of God and Fayose's. We don't want to bury another president. The desperation is getting out of hand.

How do you feel when you juxtapose these words with your previous takes on the subject matter? If I were you I will leave Nairaland totally or register another moniker to argue my new points. DAVECENA:
The Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, has told President Goodluck Jonathan, that it is not proper in Ijebuland or Yorubaland for an Oba to canvass for votes for any candidates seeking elective posts.

Rather, monarchs in Yorubaland only encourage their subjects to make their informed choices.

The monarch said this when President Goodluck Jonathan paid a private visit to him in his palace in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

President Jonathan, who arrived the palace around 11.15am in a convoy, was accompanied by the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adamu Mu’azu; a former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel; Governors of Bayelsa and Ondo states, Seriake Dickson and Olusegun Mimiko respectively, among others.

The royal father said any Oba canvassing for votes for any political party’s candidate would be courting trouble. He said rather than engaging monarchs for campaign, each candidate must go out and sell his or manifesto to the electorate.

He said, “In Ijebu here, it is not possible for any Oba, not even only in Ijebu, in Yorubaland, to go out and say vote for this, vote for that; that person is looking for trouble.

“But give them the opportunity to present their programmes so that people can make up their minds on what to do. I think this is a very sound democratic principle and that is what I have decided to do, to give you the opportunity of meeting with the people.”

Oba Adetona noted that it was when the candidate would have presented the manifesto that the voters would decide whether or not to vote for him or her.

He said, “One, they see you as a person. Whether to engage with you or not to listen to you and see if there are areas where we can meet is a question for individual reason. As a result, everybody congregating belong to different groups. They are members of the PDP, the All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Grand Alliance. They belong to various interests, and when they come, they get to the gate, they shed their togas.

“The PDP will remove their PDP, the APC will remove their own. They will remove their own. They are going to the palace to meet their ruler, their paramount ruler; to receive that important august visitor who is coming to their land and give him all honour that is entitled to him.”

He, however, advised the electorates to vote for those that had the fear of God and integrity and not those who would mortgage their future, after offering them gifts.

He said, “Each time I have cause to talk to our people, I have always told them, in the churches and mosques that when you’re going to vote, make sure you back your sons and daughters who will give something back to you; not the ‘Ojelus’ (looters).

“Those who will be honest with you, who know the way of God; those are the people you should vote for; not those who will give you two, three spoons and mortgage your future. It is not right.”

The monarch, who prayed to God to guide the country right, acknowledged that he had never seen any election that was full of tension in the last 55 years like the current one coming up in less than two weeks.

President Jonathan had earlier in his speech highlighted his achievements to the monarch, which he said, cut across party, ethnic and religious lines in the last four years.

He said, “In the road infrastructure, we have tried. Railway is back, we are trying to improve our terminal buildings and security environment in our airports.

“The Health sector, we have tried both in the tertiary level, or what we call health tourism. Some of our hospitals are now open for kidney transplant and at the primary level we are able to eradicate guinea worm and we are on the way of eradicating polio completely from this country.”

President Jonathan explained that his administration’s focal activities when re-elected would be the implementation of the report of the National Confab as well as facilitate the construction of four deep sea port projects which include the Olokola in Ijebuland, that of Badagry, Akwa Ibom and the Age in Bayelsa State.

Speaking earlier on behalf of Ijebu Traditional Council, the Dagburewe of Idowa, Oba Yinusa Adekoya, had drawn the attention of the President to the non-appointment of indigenes of Ijebuland to any prominent position at the federal level.

President Jonathan who promised to correct this if re-elected, described Ijebuland “as a great land and there’s no government that will neglect the people of Ijebuland, I have to take that very very seriously.”

Between Feb14th and March 14th, Jonathan has visited Yorubaland six times!

Lol....fire dey burn Jonathan! He has suddenly come to the cognition that those he marginalized are afterall the kingmakers of Nigeria and without their endorsement he stands no chance of victory.

First, the Obas in Egbaland told him to stop calling them to unecessary and unproductive meetings.

Second, the Muslim body in Yorubaland told him they dont need his bribe and its a waste of his time and theirs to invite them to a unproductive meeting.

Now Awujale has told him he is wasting his time paying visits to Obas in Ijebuland, and Yorubaland generally. Go and face the people with your accountability, dont bring your message to Obas, go tell it to the people you ruled for 6years.

There is two weeks to election....Jonathan is confused!

He should go to North, the Emirs might accept his message and help him in their domain.....make sure to take Patience Faka along to greet "troway shildren" along the streets.

He doesn't have to worry about Ezes in the East, they are already bought and in his pocket....there is no negotiation about whether or not they will deliver....their choice is already purchased!

May almighty God bless you and your next 5 generations. You just read out my mind
