Now that there's nothing to watch, i want to start Agent Carter. Has anyone watched it here? Is it better than Agents of SHIELD? Not that i didn't like AoS but i want to know how good it is
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by cao(f): 1:58pm On May 10, 2015
I personally prefer Agent Carter to AoS, Peggy's fighting is brutal - she will beat you with any and everything she can use. I know some folks got tired of the sexism (against Peggy), they complained it was too heavy handed, but that was the truth of the matter then (and even now, but that's another story). Since AC is a shorter series, the story's tighter and there are no filler episodes.

Great fan-made Dr Strange trailer
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 7:34pm On May 10, 2015
After watching AoU again, i reached the conclusion that Vision is now the most powerful superhero in the MCU. I know feige said some months ago that Captain Marvel would be the strongest but i don't know how that's going to work out, and there's still Dr Strange..
Vision is so powerful i think he could take both Hulk and Thor easily in a fight. Those two were the ones i considered the strongest but that has all changed.
If i were to do a power ranking of all the superhetoes in the MCU, it would look something like this;
I can't rank Ant Man, Black Panther, Dr Strange, Captain America, Inhumans, Spiderman, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage because their films haven't come out yet. I can't use the comics either cos they maybe over/underpowered in the movies. So we'll wait and see. I suspect Captain Marvel, Dr Strange and Black Bolt will end up very high in the power rankings.
Thoughts? Who would you rank as the most powerful MCU superhero?
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by Nobody: 5:54am On May 11, 2015
Rather than do something productive, I spent the night watching a ripped version of AoU(I just couldn't resist anymore) and words can't explain my nerdgasm!
Was awesome as expected. The only downside is that it seemed like they had to cram everything into a 2 hour time frame so the story wasn't really fleshed out. The action and comic relief made up for that though.
War Machine: "Think I can't hold my own?"
By the way, what happens when you put mjolnir in an elevator?
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by Nobody: 6:23am On May 11, 2015
AoU SPOILER alert!!!
I think the fact the this Vision has a vibranium self-healing body makes him literally indestructible plus the fact that he's got a damn gem in his head, so yeah, he should be the most powerful avenger(especially since they've changed most of the team).
My ranking will be similar but really can't put Cap above Ironman and have War Machine that is almost Ironman's parallel that low. Also, Quicksilver really kicked a##(language!). I haven't seen Quake in action nor read her comics so can't tell. You also kinda forgot the whole GOTG crew(everyone kinda does lol).
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by cao(f): 8:29am On May 11, 2015
Err...DProDG, Gamora is a genetically modified alien, who was turned into a killing machine who was also part responsible for mass genocide of Xandorians. Placing her above a modified raccoon, but below several humans is a travesty. Last time I checked, those humans didn't have superhuman strength, cybernetics and accelerated healing. She is able to withstand an enormous electric shock, she fought against Groot & made him armless, she held her own against Drax and certainly thinks ahead better than he does. Yeah yeah, we don't really know yet StarLord's true potential - with him being half-human, but we certainly know that the aliens usually outclass the humans in the MCU.
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by Nobody: 8:44am On May 11, 2015
I really don't know how I missed that. Guess she goes right under Cap or just around there. StarLord is still a small boy though. He only got to show off humour and wit in GOTG so I think his ranking should be good(or maybe even Gamora's spot will be better for him).
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by SIRcumalot: 8:52am On May 11, 2015
moneyallowed:Your ranking is very funny
I don't think you care that much aside the top three or else quicksilver won't be that low
I still think thor is the strongest.
I see all the arguments for why Vision is stronger but my money is still on thor in a fight.
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 9:05am On May 11, 2015
DProDG:Mjolnir's enchantment is funny, it behaves like a normal hammer would sometimes, yet other times it doesn't obey the normal laws of physics.
In an elevator, i guess it would be carried up and down like it should. Just like how the helicarrier was able to carry it in Avengers. An elevator is definitely worthy
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 9:14am On May 11, 2015
DProDG:Captain America approves of your use of language! How on earth did i forget the Guardians? War machine keeps losing his armour, i don't really rate him. Quake is really powerful, there are some others from AoS i can't rememer now. If i'm revising, no way Falcon ranks above Daredevil
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 9:18am On May 11, 2015
SIRcumalot:Quicksilver got mucked up pretty bad by the bad guy and that brings him down the list. The end is all that matters if you know what i mean. As for Vision, i don't see what Thor could hit him with since he can phase through anything. Plus Vision can cancel out Mjoljnir
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 9:19am On May 11, 2015
cao:So would you rank Gamora above all the humans? Drax gets no love from anyone, wny?
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by Nobody: 9:34am On May 11, 2015
Are you really overlooking SELF REGENERATING VIBRANIUM and the MIND GEM. I guess he didn't show off much in the movie but c'mon.
Ranking characters like Quicksilver(QS) and Scarlet Witch(SW) is kinda hard 'cause their powers aren't really quantifiable(SW) and put them at an advantage against some opponents and disadvantage against others. Like if you get down to it, SW is physically vulnerable and QS's speed will be useless against certain characters.
[I just realised you were not referring to me]
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by Nobody: 9:41am On May 11, 2015
moneyallowed:lol... Drax was poo in the movie. Didn't like Batista's casting, but that's a personal preference. Just can't compare Thanos's killer from the Annihilation series with the alika from the movie.
I think Falcon's flight and weapons gives him an advantage over Marvel's broke Batman.
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by SIRcumalot: 9:42am On May 11, 2015
moneyallowed:Say it ends differently he moves up the list ?
It not only that you have hawkeye above black widow.
I may be scraping the barrel hear but what about thunder, thunder can mess ultron up na
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by cao(f): 9:43am On May 11, 2015
moneyallowed:I would certainly rank her above all plain humans (empowered ones like Inhumans or genetically modified ones really depends on their abilities. Eg Scarlet Witch, she can defy the laws of physics and plays with your mind - doubt is a strong weapon). Tony Stark's suit is his second skin & he's a genius, so he could actually make a solid plan, when he isn't acting too much like a douche. Drax is a hothead, he's punch first, ask questions never. That stunt he pulled with Ronan was class A case for bat s*** stupidity, his stock plummeted with immediate effect.
As much as Captain America is one of my favourite Avengers in the MCU (the other being Black Widow), I honestly I'm sometimes confused with his powers - I always assumed he was at the peak of the human condition with a shield that absorbs all kinds of pressure, force & vibrations, but the way he fights sometimes just screams superhuman. Plus, let's be frank Cap would actually not survive without his shield in the MCU. Forget the comics - I own a limited run of Steve Rogers comics were he was skinny again and actually won all his fights...sometimes writers really love their God complex...
Plus, folks forget that Winter Soldier has one robotic arm, not a robotic body. Gamora's entire body has been enhanced by cybernetics, y'all should pause the police scene that lists her abilities and rewatch the scene when she gets electrocuted by Nebula and see the X-Ray effect on her body. WS's arm gave way to one of BW's tiny electric discs, Gamora continued her fight while being electrocuted.
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 9:46am On May 11, 2015
SIRcumalot:Yes, if it had ended differently he would have been ranked higher. Hawkeye can do whatever Black Widow can plus the arrow. Thunder and lightening might hurt him but only if Mjolnir is in play. He did ****** it, didn't he?
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 9:59am On May 11, 2015
cao:Hmm solid points. Drax isn't dumb though, that was vengeance talking and they weren't a team yet, so he was carrying out his plan. Rogers is confusing, the guys he has gone toe to toe with, there's no way he isn't superhuman at this point. Same serum Banner modified with gamma radiation so he's definitely more than the man behind the shield. Winter Soldier has the potential to be better than Cap and he's a better marksman. I'm curious about how a fight between Gamora and Scarlet witch would play out. Would SW's mind thing work on an alien? Cos if it doesn't Gamora could likely win and Scarlet could drop in the rankings
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 10:06am On May 11, 2015
DProDG:Lol i hope Drax redeems himself in part 2. Daredevil with his weapons will ground Falcon. Once he lands, the fight is over. I think Falcon is the bottom dweller of the MCU
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by cao(f): 10:28am On May 11, 2015
Drax is not a great thinker, he's a brawler, he's definitely not the guy with the plan...at least he can follow a plan. If you recall Cap's fight with the Algerian in CATWS, he's certainly at the peak of the human condition. Banner's serum made him one angry SoB and definitely moved him to superhuman stock, his serum is certainly different from the Super Soldier serum - that was supposed to create the perfect soldier, not an angry Hulk, who might not be able to take instruction. It certainly wasn't the same serum, if they really wanted to make the serum, they should have taken the Cap's blood, since it certainly still contains the serum. No one has been able to perfectly recreate the serum.
Scarlet Witch's powers should still work on Gamora, since it worked on Hulk & Thor, unless Thanos with his knowledge of the Infinity gems countered that when he messed with Gamora's anatomy. Plus SW can manipulate matter/the laws of physics (I need to rewatch AoU at some point, since I only remember seeing this ability in the MCU with the post credit scene in Avengers), that definitely comes in handy in a fight.
Gamora like most aliens in the MCU is certainly stronger than your average human, then added benefits of her enhancements certainly takes her further. Asguardians appear to be amongst the peak of Alien physiology, since they're the unofficial protectors of the universe. If you've watched the AoS episode with the lowly Asguardian who was hiding out in Earth, then you know how powerful they are.
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 10:45am On May 11, 2015
cao:Yea since Scarlet's powers worked on Thor, it should also work on Gamora. You're also right, she can manipulate matter, telekinesis, a bit like Jean grey from Xmen. She should win.
I think in AoS they mentioned Cap's blood, can't remember. I don't get how they've not been able to recreate the serum when Zola had his own formula to create the Winter Soldier. Lady Sif was the Asguardian, i hope they show more of her. Can you recall any AoU character apart from Quake that might merit a ranking?
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by cao(f): 10:57am On May 11, 2015
moneyallowed:You're confusing Lady Sif with the professor - who was a lowly Asgardian that was given whatever that staff was...**googles**Elliot Randolph, he was a stone mason, who signed onto an Earth mission in the 12th century because he was bored. He was given a Berserker Staff, which he then broke in three pieces and hid it. Then he developed a case of loose lips when he fell in love with a chic and told his story, while her brother wrote it and it became legend. He displayed superhuman strength without the Staff and other Asgardian enchantments.
I know a vial of Cap's blood was in Agent Carter, but Peggy disposed of it, since she didn't trust anyone with it, especially not Howard "plays with fire" Stark. We haven't seen all the Inhumans' powers yet, Raina could actually be able to prevent things with her precognitive powers and her natural ability of emotional manipulation.
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by SIRcumalot: 11:33am On May 11, 2015
moneyallowed:Please tell me you're joking
Hawkeye can't fight half as well as black widow
Remember that avenger scene.
Honestly I'll rank black widow ahead of Cap America
What exactly is peak human condition ?
This term is always fitted to support anything, same thing DC does with Batman.
I doubt a peak human can do some of the crazy stunt rodger pull?
Also quick question isn't the winter soldier just a guy with bionic arms
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by cao(f): 11:59am On May 11, 2015
SIRcumalot:WS is a guy with one bionic arm, not two. Peak of human condition, see Bruce Lee - the man could do things that some body builders still can't do despite his smaller frame. The whole spiel of a peak human - they can do things that could be considered extraordinary, but are at the height of a human's ability. eg folks pulling trucks with their hair. Superhuman is way above the human fitness, (eg Asgardian, Hulk) humans could never achieve this kind of feat because it is not in the parameters of a human's ability. Yes, writers especially comic book writers like to twist things to suit their mood. Plus, Cap's shield is nigh indestructible (apparently it's another accident that no one is able to replicate according to the comics, that's how adamantium was formed because they tried to replicate it), one of the Shield's main features is absorption, that's why Cap has perfected his tortoise move - to hide his huge ass frame behind it, since his arm and the rest of his body should have broken a long time ago. That's why his ass was able to get up after he threw himself out of the building.
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 12:11pm On May 11, 2015
SIRcumalot:I don't know man, Black Widow vs Hawkeye is too close to call. That avengers scene she took him down alright, but you could say being mind controlled won't help anyone. In AoU he kicked a**! Hawkeye for me. No way Black Widow is up to Cap, i don't even see how she stand up to him
You hit the nail with that peak human condition thing, it doesn't correspond to his feats. Winter Soldier has the same strength as Cap thanks to his serum, plus he has the bionic arm which is crazy strong, he basically tore open an armoured SUV with i. I'd say he's stronger than Cap. Now that i think of it, i don't even know why we're ranking him lower
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 6:16am On May 12, 2015
For some reason, fans can't wait for official trailers anymore, so they make their own. Can't complain especially when it's this good. Love the part where Bucky picks up Cap's shield
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by moneyallowed(m): 11:12am On May 13, 2015
I have seen a lot of theories about Marvel's Phase Three but this one makes the most sense. What do you think? Please note, a healthy dose of speculation is involved
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by SIRcumalot: 2:41pm On May 13, 2015
Marvel has mostly shied away from magic users in all their movies and tv shows their is always explanation either alien, drugs,or accident even mutants aren't present.
they avoided Magic so much they Made that weak hass Mandarin in Iron Man 3.
Which is what makes me excited for the Dr strange movie I want to see how they will explain his powers.
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by Nobody: 7:44pm On May 13, 2015
The 'Mandarin' dude in Ironman 3 ended up being fake though. The real real dude seems to be in hiding and protecting his identity. Check out this one shot 'All Hail The King'. I don't watch Agents of Shield yet so don't know if they talked more about him there though.
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by cao(f): 8:23pm On May 13, 2015
DProDG:He has never been mentioned on AoS (I haven't watched the season finale yet, but I doubt Mandarin was mentioned). Although, we will definitely be seeing the beginnings of Civil War, thanks to the Inhumans and their leader's subterfuge which will probably lead to SHIELD's index turning into a more public & political agenda.
