. U think so Broda.....If Boko Haram or ISWAP heads now to Benin republic...hmm grin it is finished ooo...it won't be easy for Dem at all...Now I get ur points though but if it happens it will be another #Mali Intervention

If BokoHarem engaged in a serious invasion of The Benin Republic today most likely threw Niger with no Nigerian intervention. Come next week Abubakar Shekau would be on live international television beheading Patrice Talon.

So the Nigeria police wants to send some of its personnel back to Gajiram? Kai too bad human sacrifice loading........ embarassed

I wept the day i saw a policeman in Gajiram with a tear gas gun angry. The Commissioner of police should sleep in Gajiram for two weeks.

The Nigerian Army should improve it's game in the Northern Borno axis. We should not always wait for Bokoharam to bring the war to us, we should be able to take it to them from Doron Baga to Cross Kauwa to Marte and Gudzamala. cool

I'm not quite sure, but it seems to me that BHT/ISWAP elements are taking a battering this few weeks, but information from the north-east seems to be water-tight right now....but from what we are getting, their amirs looks to be on the run....I heard this morning a HVT was arrested today in maiduguri...and from press releases, more HVTs dead....can anyone confirm this?

PRESS RELEASE

THEATRE COMMAND OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE COMMENCES “OPERATION POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION”

The Theatre Command Operation LAFIYA DOLE has commenced an operation nicknamed “OPERATION POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION”.

The operation is aimed at searching for and arresting all suspected erstwhile Boko Haram/ISWAP criminal elements that roam some parts of the North Eastern part of the country. This has become necessary following credible information that some of the fleeing criminals are hibernating in some towns and villages of Borno and Yobe States in particular and North East in general.

Consequently, members of the public are enjoined to always carry valid means of identification when moving or passing through the states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe. Our troops have been instructed to strictly check valid means of identification such as National Identification Card, Voters Registration Card, Drivers' License and International Passports, or other valid official identification, before allowing such person passage.

We therefore once again enjoin all to fully cooperate with troops and security agencies in carrying out this exercise.

The Theatre Command also wish to state that anyone not positively identified will attract further scrutiny and comprehensive investigation to determine his or her activities with the insurgents or otherwise.

The general public is please requested to bear with this measure as it is in their best interest and our national security, as well as efforts to end the madness called insurgency as perpetrated by the erstwhile Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters.

- RPG-2 & 2 PG-2s
- 5 tubes described as "BM-13" (looks like improvised large caliber launchers)
- 47 converted 82mm shells
- 3 AKs, 1 SKS.

How is it that these SF guys aren't issued a secondary weapon such as a pistol? Should our elite forces be better funded and equipped?

I once saw a picture of the SF guys from Nigerian Airforce, Panthers, and they had what looked like a Beretta M9. Can anyone here confirm if this is standard practice?

In that line of work, if things gets so bad that you have to use a pistol, then you are as good as dead.

But I get your point, at least a side arm will add another layer of protection in case shit hits the fan.

Coming to issues which is more relevant

Is it only me that who seems surprised that when it comes to the calibre of weapons being used operationally and most commonly , there seems not be much difference between the inventory of NA and BH ?

( Let's not involve tanks because it's unsuited interms of the nature of conflict and the enormous cost it's imposes interms of logistics and maintenance )

To have a asendency in comparative firepower one needs to have a inventory of superior calibre suitable for the day to day operational requirements in the field and importantly impose deterrence of fear in the case of hostiles and confidence in the case of users.

Miniguns ( interms of volume of firepower ) , 20 to 30mm calibres ( interms of range and effectiveness ) can turn the tables considerably.
