I guess we will all agree that we have a poor man's army.

This is not an achievement. It is only the physical manifestation of the rot in the army in particular.

I have said this before and got the usual dogs abuse by some here.

When you have limited knowledge or understanding it affects your perception, self esteem and therefore EXPECTATIONS.

Something that should be condemned is seen by some as COMMENDABLE.

CAPACITY BUILDING: CAS CHARGES PERSONNEL TO BRING THEIR ACQUIRED SKILLS TO BEAR IN ENHANCING NAF OPERATIONS AS AFIT GRADUATES ANOTHER BATCH OF CIS TECHNICIANS

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has charged newly graduated personnel of Intermediate and Advanced Communication and Information Systems (CIS) Courses at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna to bring the skills acquired during their training to bear in enhancing the conduct of the NAF’s operations. The CAS stated this yesterday, 7 July 2020, while speaking during the Graduation Ceremony of 82 personnel who recently completed Intermediate and Advanced CIS Courses at AFIT. The Intermediate Courses, which began 6 months ago, comprised the Airmen Electrical Electronics/Communication Course, Airmen Information Technology Course and Airmen Electrical Electronics/Radar Course, while the Advanced Courses, of 3 months duration, comprised Advanced Airmen Electrical Electronics/Communication Course, Advanced Airmen Information Technology Course and Advanced Airmen Electrical Electronics/Radar Course.

Speaking further, the CAS noted that effective military communication was a key requirement for any successful military enterprise, including the projection of Air Power. He observed that having such effective communication required personnel with the appropriate skillsets. He stated that the current NAF leadership had, from inception, accordingly placed emphasis on the development of human capacity in all areas that would ensure the effective and efficient employment of air power, when required. In this regard, the CAS said, the NAF had consistently trained personnel both locally and abroad, noting that the successful execution of air operations in theatres across the Country was a testament to the efficacy of the NAF’s current capacity building initiatives.

“In recent times, the NAF’s effort in enhancing capacity of CIS personnel has led to the training of 4 Information Technology officers on Advanced Software Development at the Academy Computer Training Centre, Miami Florida, United States of America (USA) and 5 others on Advanced Cyber Security at the Institute of Information Security, Maharashtra Pune, India”, Air Marshal Abubakar said. He further disclosed that the NAF had trained 4 Communications personnel on Forward Looking Infra-Red (FLIR) Camera Intermediate Maintenance Course in the USA, while Chinese Electronics Import and Export Corporation had trained 3 officers and one Senior Non Commissioned Officer in China on Radar systems. The CAS also revealed that 5 CIS officers were undergoing various courses in China, in addition to a total of 20 others who were trained in-country by the FLIR Company US on Airborne Tactical Observation Systems and were currently deployed to various theatres of operation across the Country. He remarked that the knowledge acquired in the various courses of training would boost capacity of NAF CIS personnel so that such courses could eventually be conducted at AFIT, thereby saving scarce national resources. The CAS further observed that the technical courses being conducted at AFIT were already proving crucial towards reducing the dependence on foreign expatriates, while also building the confidence of NAF personnel. He promised that training facilities at the Institute would be upgraded to further improve the practical experience of future students.

While congratulating the graduands for their determination and tenacity to work through to the end of the Course, Air Marshal Abubakar reminded them that they would be deployed to support ongoing NAF operations either directly or indirectly. He therefore charged them to remain highly professional, focused and disciplined. “You must bring to bear the skills you have acquired during your training here at this prestigious Institute in the discharge of your duties. It is therefore my sincere expectation that as you go to the field, you will be good and worthy ambassadors of AFIT,” the CAS said. He also reminded all personnel to support the Government’s efforts in the fight against COVID-19 by ensuring total adherence to stipulated guidelines; including the wearing of face masks, observance of social/physical distancing when in public places as well as the avoidance of unnecessary inter-state movements.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commandant AFIT, Air Vice Marshal Abdulganiyu Olabisi, stated that the objective of the courses was to improve on the skills acquired by the airmen and airwomen from their basic courses. According to him, following the basic training, they had been posted to various units for hands-on experience. The intermediate and advanced courses, he said, provide the airmen/airwomen with the skill and knowledge that would enable them carry out more specialized functions as they handle higher responsibilities. He noted that the resources were optimized to ensure satisfactory coverage of the theoretical and practical aspects of the courses. In spite of the challenges faced in the course of the training, the Commandant remarked that AFIT is totally committed to the task of human capacity development through robust and result oriented training for enhanced professional performance. He thanked the NAF leadership, as well as Headquarters Air Training Command and the 441 Communications Group, for the immense support and timely response to their requests.

Highlights of the Graduation Ceremony include the conferment of certificates on the graduands as well as the presentation of awards to the best graduating students in each of the Courses.

This word " organisational culture " has a way of pervading everything that you do in an organisation. It takes many decades of the pursuit of excellence for it to become established and the general benchmark.

That organisational culture has a way of when consider bother degree of high tech manufactureing country is involved in to become the national psychi = mentality.

That's why manufacturering in the Germany is very different from manufacturing in the UK. One is seeking world dominance by excellence in production and the other is essentially asleep in mediocrity.

What l am saying that level of competence cannot be attained by short cuts. Pakistan will never make a quality competitive product like those countries who have had a century or more of doing it.

I rest my case.

You can travel in a Pakistani manufactured aircraft but before you enter you better fast and pray.

How did I forget India! They've matured aerospace products ranging from choppers to the Tejas. Ideally nemesis8u would tell us but he's tied up with the Chinese misadventure.
Like I said they simply followed the certification process laid out.

[
b]The Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv is certified to International Standard as per DEF-STAN 00-0970 [/b]and nearly 200 Dhruv helicopters have been produced till date and are being operated by military and civil operators in India and abroad.

So far since 2002, 14 military and two civilian Dhruv helicopters have met with accidents. Of these, 11 happened in India and five abroad
[url][https://www.google.com/amp/s/wap.business-standard.com/article-amp/news-ians/india-looks-at-european-safety-certification-for-dhruv-choppers-116112501002_1.htmlurl]

IIRC, the Ecuadorians had a string of accidents due to PE and maintenance issues but all in all the Dhruv has a comparatively good safety record.

They're now developing an INDIGENOUS engine the HTSE-1200 and an African nation I'd rather not name now is srsly looking at coproduction . Like I said its straightforward - as long all the certification processes are followed there's no problem.

TROOPS OF OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE OBLITERATE BOKO HARAM/ISWAP IN A COUNTER AMBUSH OPERATION ALONG DAMBOA - MAIDUGURI ROAD CLEARANCE OPERATIONS

1. In continuation of their sustained onslaught against remnants of Boko Haram/Islamic State's West African Province criminals and their collaborators, the gallant troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE under the subsidiary operation, Operation KANTANA JIMLAN have again displayed their combat superiority against the terrorists as part of their hightened offensive operations across the Theatre.

2. Relatedly, on Tuesday 7 July, 2020, the troops of 25 Task Force Brigade deployed at Damboa in conjunction with elements of Sector 2 Special Forces while on clearance operations along Damboa -Maiduguri Road, made contact with a Boko Haram/Islamic State's West Africa Province criminals' ambush team along their axis of advance. Instinctively, the valiant troops out flanked and engaged the criminals with overwhelming volume of fire power forcing them to withdraw in dissaray. In the aftermath of the encounter, 17 Boko Haram/Islamic State's West Africa Province criminals were neutralized as several others were believed to have narrowly escaped with varying degrees of gun shot wounds while a cache of arms and ammunition were equally captured by the gallant troops. Regrettably, 2 valiant soldiers paid the supreme price while 4 others were wounded in action. However, the wounded in action soldiers have been evacuated to a military medical facility and currently responding positively to treatment.

3. Meanwhile the Theatre Commander Operation LAFIYA DOLE has been directed to immediately deploy a Special Forces Battalion to reinforce and dominate Damboa - Bulabulin - Maiduguri axis to completely deny the terrorists any chance of escape during the final assault against the criminals.

4. Members of the general public particularly residents of the area are also requested to remain calm, law abiding and continue with their routine activities as all necessary measures have been put in by the Theatre Command to ensure all routes are safe for commuting without fear of attack by the criminals.

5. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai commends the troops for their resilience and patriotism in crushing the remnants of Boko Haram/Islamic State's West Africa Province criminals and urges them to maintain the tempo against the criminals as we approach the end of insurgency in our country.

The Nigerian army made wearing anything camo a big deal, even patterns that are miles away from looking like that of the army.

Something that should not have been an issue as long as its not the patterns being used by the Armed forces.

This kind of incident happens quite often between the Abuja, kaduna and kano routes.

As a layperson, I can only imagine that, apart from intelligence bokoharam is getting on our troop movement, reason Nigerian solders fall often to ambushes is that our troops move in single or bunched columns like arctic reindeers. Therefore, like wolves, Boko or the terrorists move in on them from the sides. Now, setting aside issues of inadequate numbers of mraps and air cover, perhaps some of our solders, when on patrols or missions, could move along as usual in columns along paths or roads but some of them move along parallel but off-road or paths. Of course, apart from the tougher and slower going, this would mean more risk for the soldier that move off-road since Boko would encounter them first. Nevertheless, the ensuing exchanges of fire alerts everyone. In a sense, this muddying way of patrolling serves the purpose for which drones are the safer and more sophisticated option. We possibly need to stop moving in neat or regular patterns as advised by conventional doctrine.

Dont look at me, i dont claim to be Buratai lipsrsealed

Exactly. If it's within a state or journeys that's not too lonely/deserted it's okay. But travelling on a lonely highway in uniform or exhibits , that's almost suicide.

The 4900 will be sent as pawns in the Northeast. A country where we sit and wait for Insurgents to attack and then we shine our teeth for Repelling.

Nobody cares on why we don't take this war to these bloody bastards.

If we begin to get MRAPs, some Generals might not see enough funds to build their Abuja and Dubai estates. We should improve on our procurement audit. Corruption bad walahi.

It's just painful we are sending these young men to their early graves. A Military that once claimed Civilians in all the Northeast have returned. I called out four LGA's instantly here and some peeps who have never crossed Abuja felt I was lying.....

We lost 23 men to an ambush yesterday. On the same road they've always been ambushed !
Buratai has used the two terms limit, it ended about 2 months ago. He hasn't tried is best at all and right now even his best isn't enough. He needs to bow out with the remaining honor he has left. And any other high ranking officer involved in sending people's son, father, brother, uncle to ply that road with soft skins knowing fully well that the chances of ambush is extremely high.

There is no difference between the war on terror during GEJ and GMB tenure. Nothing has change. In fact, GEJ tenure is far better than this useless administration tenure in the fight against terrorism.

Buratai is more terrible than Ihejirika and Minimah.

A man that told us he won't leave the north east unless Boko Haram is defeated. The clueless GMB will tell us he is shock about this news.

Except from constructing buildings and employing more Airforce personnel, there is no difference between the current Air force chief and the likes of Amosun in this fight against terrorism.

They are all failures.

The only reason Buratai went to the North east was because of the Offensive that was led by the Chadian president. If not for that offensive by the Chadian president buratai won't have gone to the North east.

If Buratai was the COAS when the war on boko Haram started, boko Haram would have controlled almost all the state in the North East. That's how incompetent the Dubai landlord is.
