There are so many lessons Nigeria should have learnt from this war and I really hope the relevant agencies are indeed learning.

In peacetime, the military was ignored and even undermined when they should have been building capacity.

The whole country also underestimated the insurgents when they began........

There are so many other things we neglected and are now learning the hard way in the various sectors.

Thank God the airforce is now being prospective(JF-17s and other new platforms they are getting) , same with the navy(the navy has a huge plan and some of the acquisitions are already happening). As for the army, they are still making plans and acquisitions for the insurgency alone.

The cancer in every sector will take a lot of time and efforts to remove but if we keep improving this way, I believe things will get better.

Whyem15:
Maintenance for military vehicles is required very often. It is very costly and very difficult especially when those who ordered it got little to no spares(learnt they now order reasonable quantities of spares during procurement). The airforce and Navy have been largely lucky because they have fewer platforms. This is part of the reason why the army should be the bigg portion of capital expenditures in every budget(at least for now). I said it earlier and will say it again, the Nigerian army has hundreds of fighting vehicles and associated weapons in various armory across the country but most are unserviceable and there is little remedy for some because the companies they are no longer in operation. Take the amphibious corps for example. The early presidents of the fourth republic almost killed the military and the result is what we have today.

It should be noted that the people who got the T-72s without spares also got the BTR-4 that the army had to eventually weld HMGs on top because they didn't buy the required ammunitions for it.

Maybe the army needs a man like S.B Abubakar that will focus on maintenance for some years.
If a quarter of NA's armored vehicles had been deployed to fight insurgency(with good coordination and strategy) the war would have been won since 2014/15 when the government first became slightly serious about the war.

In the end, it all comes down to lack of seriousness in Abuja. The stakeholders do not see a big deal with the situation of things. They are not affected so to them Nigeria is fine.

Mind you, the Bigfoot has really tried in the Northeast. It should be the standard MRAP for the army. That thing is crazily rugged.
How about local research and development.....
Abubakar has show it’s possible with Airframes.....why do we make excuses for incompetence....we have the tools, brains and manpower already

They've been attempting to do that but it will take years before we start seeing meaningful results. It will also require scarce resources(funds). Not too long ago, DICON was totally dead, NAMVC was also not existing.
I wish DICON could privatise the PPE and bullets sections and focus on greater things though.

What are the feedbacks on Ezegwu and Ara?

The State Department ordered nonessential U.S. personnel out of Chad on Sunday amid growing concerns about advancing rebel forces in the country.

Reuters reported that a State Department spokesperson confirmed the move, pointing to the proximity of rebel groups to the nation's capital.

"Due to their growing proximity to N'Djamena and the possibility for violence in the city, non-essential U.S. government employees have been ordered to leave Chad by commercial airline," the spokesperson said.

The Hill has reached out to the State Department for further comment.

Rebel groups have frequently tried to overthrow Idriss Déby, Chad's self-proclaimed president who has ruled the country for more than three decades after launching a successful coup himself. Déby is supported by France and the U.S., which consider him and the country an important ally against Islamist extremists in the region.

Rebel forces posted on social media late last week that they had overtaken a Chadian army base in the country's northern region, while claiming that the army was receiving logistical support from France.

Very true, the political stability of Chad at this moment should be at the back of everybody's mind.

A federal minister has been seen in a series of viral videos supporting Jihadi groups like Alqaeda and Taliban, praising Osama bin Laden, and claiming to always find joy in the killing of non Muslims by Islamic terrorists. In another video, he was crying while preaching in a mosque, cursing former president Goodluck Jonathan for killing Boko Haram fighters.

There has been an avalanche of support for this minister both online and offline by his Northern brothers. They see nothing wrong with his extremist proclivity, infact they are in sync with it. This same Northerners were vocal in their support for a certain Sheikh who knows the hideouts and has the contacts of all the so called bandits in Nigeria, a Sheikh who enjoined bandits to primarily target Christian soldiers in their attacks.

The seed of Boko Haram, ISWAP, Fulani Bandits etc, was not planted in the North yesterday. It was not planted a decade ago, it's been a long while, and it's being carefully nurtured by the Northern elites and their ignorant masses.

The North is on the path of self destruction. If they continue in this direction it is unlikely Boko Haram insurgents and other forms of terrorism end in that region any time soon.

God sparing our lives, in the next twenty years we might still be here, analysing our Boko Haram captured an army base at dikwa and our the army repelled their attack at monguno. It may never end

Terrorism Financing: Dozens Arrested In Nationwide Crackdown

Dozens of persons have been arrested by security agents in an ongoing nationwide crackdown on suspected financiers and collaborators of Boko Haram and other criminal groups in Nigeria, Daily Trust reports.

This is coming five months after Daily Trust exclusively reported the jailing of six Nigerians in the United Arab Emirates over allegations of terrorism financing.

The ongoing inter-agency operation is being led by a top intelligence officer, with an army general leading a task team comprising military personnel and staff from intelligence services.

Multiple sources informed Daily Trust that the closely guarded operation is being coordinated by Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

As part of the operation, billions of naira traced to businesses belonging to persons of interest have been blocked in banks in series of “post no debit” letters sent out to banks by the CBN and NFIU. The apex bank has also lately obtained court orders directing freezing of dozens of accounts flagged for suspicious transactions.

While officials expressed hope that the ongoing operation would be a “game-changer” in the lingering fight against Boko Haram insurgents and other criminal gangs, some analysts say the method may not provide the needed elixir as terrorists and bandits operate largely outside the financial system.

A security source familiar with the operation confided in our reporter that the operation started last year with massive gathering and analysis of financial intelligence and drawing uplink analysis, leading to the initial marking of some 60 businesses and individuals.

A source disclosed to Daily Trust that an initial list of 957 suspects comprising bureau de change operators, gold miners and sellers, and other businessmen are being acted upon.

Already, according to the source, about 400 persons have been arrested in series of arrests in Kano, Borno, Abuja, Lagos, Sokoto, Adamawa, Kaduna and Zamfara.

In Kano, a major focus for the operation, traders at the foreign exchange open market in Wapa, Fagge Local Government, were picked up on March 9, 15th and 16th.

I don't know about this guys sources, but Eons intelligence(David Otto) have always been consistent with accurate information.

P.S - The attack on Dikwa was not mentioned in the article though, so at the moment Sitrep is unavailable(apart from information about a Commander killed and gun trucks destroyed posted by some Twitter handles yesterday) Information is still scarce.
