Local policing we've been talking about for a while now. sh!t we should have had decades ago. they gotta make sure they arent abused though, that is by state govts. that's critical, and its weird they never mentioned local govt chairpersons, they should be in control of local police, not the state.

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Human Rights Writers Association Of Nigeria (HURIWA) call have asked Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, to resign his position as governor due to escalation of insecurity in the state.

Their calls were apparently because the governor has failed in his responsibility as the chief security officer of the state and his refusal to negotiate with kidnappers.

Yesterday, 26 students were kidnapped by armed bandits at Bethel Baptist School, Maraban Rido, Chikun Local Council of Kaduna State.

Confirming the incident yesterday, Kaduna police command said that security operatives were on the trail of the bandits.

Chairman of CAN, Kaduna chapter, Rev. Joseph Hayab, who is a Baptist senior pastor, explained that students in the hostel’s register before the kidnap were 180, adding: “They counted the students this (Monday) morning and they said 174 could not be accounted for.”

He urged the governor to resign, if he could not handle the security of the state. But El-Rufai has described the incident as unfortunate and evil to humanity.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home, Samuel Aruwan, said: “The governor is following the development and receiving hourly situation reports.”

BLAMING El-Rufai and President Muhammadu Buhari for the kidnap of students in Kaduna and other northern states, HURIWA lamented the lack of effective and transparent military action to end the menace.

In a statement yesterday, the National Coordinator of HURIWA, Emmanuel Onwubiko, alleged that the kidnappers were being pampered by the Federal Government, while slamming El-Rufai for playing to the gallery by enrolling his son to a public school but secretly withdrawing him later.

“If El-Rufai has any shame left in him, he should resign (as governor) forthwith for secretly withdrawing these children and trying to speak from both sides of his mouth by claiming that kidnappers were gunning for them. Then 24 hours later, these terrorists abducted several children of the poor,” HURIWA stated.

HOWEVER, an attempt, yesterday, to kidnap students of Living Faith Academy, also in Kaduna, was foiled by security forces, who responded to a distress call by the school management. Consequently, the school called on parents to remove their children from the school premises.

The armed bandits had broken the perimeter fence of the academy, only to discover that students were not in session.
Security report got to the school management last Friday that parents should pick all the children from the hostel, latest Saturday.

Military personnel were on hand to confront the bandits after the news of the kidnapping of students of Bethel Baptist.

Troops of 195 Battalion, Sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai, in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) on a clearance operation within Muna general area of Borno State, have captured two Boko Haram terrorists and recovered assorted items and utensils, Newspremises reports.

Items recovered from the BHT logistics suppliers include one hand grenade, one axe, one vehicle, five bicycles, two mobile phones and some quantities of fuel, oil and lubricant.

A statement by Brig-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, Director, Army Public Relations, said: “The troops equally recovered a large quantity of psychedelic and sex enhancement drugs, pesticides and insecticides, as well as foodstuff, among others.

“The vigilant troops, who left no stone unturned during the clearance operation, combed the entire area, destroying several identified terrorists’ camps.

“During the operation, troops however came in contact with terrorists at Labe Village, who attempted fleeing but were swiftly intercepted by the troops.

“The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Faruk Yahaya, has commended the alertness of the troops, urging them to sustain the aggressive posture of the operation, to ensure they clear terrorists’ enclaves and dominate the general area.”

Police, local hunters, and some men from other security outfits have rescued four of the passengers

abducted by suspected gunmen at Odo-Osun around Imesi-ile in the Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.
The abducted passengers were reportedly kidnapped while going from Ekiti towards Ikirun via Ila road, when the abductors hijacked their bus at Odo-Osun after shooting at the bus several times to force the vehicle to stop.
It was learnt that the passengers were whisked away to a nearby bush.
Meanwhile, the four passengers were rescued after the security agents suddenly stormed the hideouts of the bandits, engaging them in gunfire.
It was learnt that one of the local hunters sustained a gunshot injury during the shootout.
The police, vigilantes, members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), and other local security operatives
were still in the forest, trying to rescue the remaining abducted passengers at the time of filing this report.

No fewer than 19 people have been reportedly killed at Tsauwa village, Batsari Local Government Area, Katsina State.

Residents said the bandits stormed the village around 11.30 p.m on Monday and operated till the early hours of Tuesday.

It was learnt that on arrival at the village, the bandits started shooting indiscriminately, resulting in the death of the victims.

One of the residents, who pleaded anonymity, noted that the bandits also shot at those fleeing the village for safety in neighbouring communities.

The resident said, “When they (the bandits) came, they started shooting and pursuing people who were trying to escape and those attempting to escape into the forest.

“As at last count, they killed 19 persons and we buried them this morning (Tuesday) while those injured have been taken to hospital for treatment.”

The bandits also reportedly set fire on many houses and grains reserves while they also allegedly cart away valuables and domestic animals.

When contacted, the Spokesman for the Katsina police command, Gambo Isah, said he was already in contact with the DPO for the area to get details of the incident.

Details later…

You are a patriot. A patriot is one who says it as it is, and that you've done here. The zombies on this thread get high of the lies they tell themselves.

One zombie here was actually asking if Nigeria has assets to detect enemy fighter plane violating Nigeria's airspace. Maybe the radars
can detect an illegal intrusion of a low end plane, but that's how far it goes. Even if Cameroon decides to violate Nigeria' airspace, the Nigerian Airforce can't do shit.

The sort of sophistry the morons here attach to that shithole called Nigeria is one for comic relief really.
