Albert and Bernard just became friends with Cheryl, and they want to know when her birthday is. Cheryl gives them a list of 10 possible dates. May 15 May 16 May 19 June 17 June 18 July 14 July 16 August 14 August 15 August 17 Cheryl then tells Albert and Bernard separately the month and the day of her birthday respectively. Albert: I don’t know when Cheryl’s birthday is, but I know that Bernard does not know too. Bernard: At first I don’t know when Cheryl’s birthday is, but I know now. Albert: Then I also know when Cheryl’s birthday is. So when is Cheryl’s birthday? |

adebisiolumide5:If it was 18, then Bernard would have known straight away that the month is june since 18 was listed once. so it cannot be the 18th. |

July 16 It's neither May nor June because she didn't tell Benard 18 or 19 otherwise he would have known the birthday at once. We are left with only July and August, eliminate July 14 and August 14 because it's a repetition of figure and Benard could not have known which of the 14s. We are now left with July 16, August 15 & 17. Eliminate the August dates because Albert said he now knows the date and since he knows the month it definately has to be July 16. 1 Like |

Its july 16th Albert: I don’t know when Cheryl’s birthday is, but I know that Bernard doesn’t know too. Meaning it cant be 19 or 18 since albert knows bernard dosnt know so he must have been told july or august since 19 and 18 appears on only may and june Bernard: At first I don’t know when Cheryl’s birthday is, but now I know. then it is between 15 16 and 17 since 14 dosnt have a specific month . Albert: Then I also know when Cheryl’s birthday is.the possible dates july 16 august 15 and august 17 then it is July 16th bkus he cant know the specific date if it is august for him to know the specific dat it must be july since it has one date 1 Like |
