Good morning everyone. This thread is so mindblowing, having to see how long several people have waited and still waiting. It's just really unfair that we all have to wait for several weeks/months for a Nigerian applicant while Ghana is just 8weeks and several other countries. Nigeria has the highest number of weeks for processing time. So heartbreaking.

I just checked for my wife and son on cic website and saw an update requesting for my 4 year old son to undergo Medicals.
Is this the norm or are they confused?

Wow! I don't know if a 4 year old should do Medicals. But if they are asking for it , I think you should do that asap so that your application won't be delayed oo.

If you did a seperate application for them both. I guess ur wife's own is on its way. Meanwhile let your son go for Medicals. It just simply means both applications are treated differently .

The application is a joint one. I didn't have to do for my daughters as both of them are Americans. My wife already did medicals in February this year.

Kk! I remember your story! That means your wife's medical is still valid. I guess they don't need her to do Medicals anymore. Passport request soon for both of them by Gods grace.

Congratulations again to those who have received approval,for those of us still waiting we will hear good news by God's grace, it will be worth the wait.

I was hoping we could share ideas on helping our spouses settle down(i.e getting a job) when they arrive. I have heard that Canadian employers prefer to hire candidates who have a certificate(or work experience) from Canada I do not know how true this is. Perhaps the industry matters; People in the IT industry may not have this issue but maybe other fields like finance for example?

Another issue I want to bring up is the possibility of applying for a study permit should one's spouse decide to further their education if a job is not forthcoming soon enough? Is this possible considering that they migrated on the basis of a work permit? If they are able to obtain a study permit after arriving in Canada, what happens after the study? I think I read somewhere that work permit is only issued once, so does this mean they would have to return home after their study since they may be unable to secure another work permit? Or will the first one be disregarded since it was never really used?

I guess my "story" above boils down to one question "How easy has it been/is it for people who migrate to Canada on work permit to secure a job"?

I would appreciate the house's opinion on these issues possibly sharing of experiences too. Thanks
