As the contest for the office of the Senate President intensifies, a women’s group under the aegis of the Coalition of South-south Support for Female Inclusion in Governance has called on senators elected for the 8th Assembly to give room for the emergence of a female Senate President. The group in a statement signed by the spokesperson, Dr. Ipalibo Whyte, stated that women and Nigerians alike will welcome the change the All Progressives Congress (APC) represents especially when it launches itself with laudable moves such as having a female in the leadership of the upper house. While recounting the political achievements of women, the coalition extolled the leadership qualities of Binta Garba, a senator-elect representing Adamawa North senatorial district.
