This is for the law people of nairaland, a man is facing trial in court for stealing. The court grants him bail of 150000 and two sureties in like sum with property in the same jurisdiction within the state. My question, how is he to get the sureties who are ready to pay that sum and risk their property. Remember the guy is not yet found guilty, he could be strolling at the wrong place before police arrested him. |

Fate may let the man rot in prison. But sure way is that if he can gather the sum and give to those willing to surety him, then half of the deal is done. Besides, his lawyer can still play a part to lessen the bail conditions based on the material facts of the case e.g accused not found with arms, search conducted in his residence without any incriminating evidence, first time offender, etc. Lawyers in NL are charge and bail. |
