My Toyota Corolla 2007 Model (bank Type) Vibrates At Between 110 - 120km/h by NL1960: 1:41pm On May 11, 2015
I normally travel on my Toyota Corolla 2007 model (Bank Type) bought brand new in 2007. During the last Easter break and this weekend when i traveled, i noticed that when iam on between 110 - 120km/h, it starts vibrating. The vibration starts stopping once it is passing 120km/h. It does not vibrate when iam doing 130-140km/h. It is very smooth from that speed. This is strange. What could be the problem?. I normally do balancing and alignment before i travel.

wheels are not balanced. Check for dried up mud on the inside of you wheels, clean it up and go for a test, if same result go for wheel balancing on all 4 wheels.

Thanks. Will doing a total wash of the vehicle remove this dried up mud?. There are times i do a total wash of the car i.e. engine, boot, inside and body.

Do digital alignment and while at it, make sure mud and pebbles stuck on the tire grooves are taken off.

Are there places in Apapa and Ketu that you can recommend for this digital alignment?.

any form of motion/vibration other than transmission of energy from your engine to your suspension via you transmission box is a sign of imminent mechanical failure, it pays to have your vehicle inspected and the problem solved by competent personnel, may i recommend 08124029928

Same issues with my RAV 06 model, at speeds of between 80km-100km it starts vibrating if the brakes are depressed.

Changed the front brake disc and brake pads and the vehicle came back to life..

No issues again

Wheels are my first and only suspects.

1. Wheel balancing; a conservative way to deal with this is by swopping the rear tyres to the front and vice versa. Test drive to see.

2. Bad wheels. Let your tyre technician check for swollen moulds or twists on your tyres.

3. Bad shafts can also cause this.

Please let's know when and how this is solved.

My apologies for not getting back on the thread on my findings.

I went to an auto repair garage and after test driving it, a diagnostics was run and done on it. The car was jacked up and the diagnostics done.

After the diagnostics, a quote was given to me for the following:

(1) Front Hub

(2) Shock Absorber (front)

(3) Hub Bearing

Iam still looking for the money.

Another thing i have noticed is that i started having this issue when i changed my servicing, wheel balancing and alignment place to another. I normally do them in one auto workshop but last xmas, they messed me up by not opening on an xmas weekend and i wanted to travel for xmas. So i had to do them at a filling station. The filling station does not jack up the car. So i have decided to be doing only servicing at the filling station while i look for an auto wheel balancing and alignment shop that jacks up the car to do the wheel balancing and alignment.

On the bold, by tyre technician, do you mean the vulcanizer?.

I advice everybody to do wheel balancing and alignment regularly, especially after travelling long distances or after using a terrible road. Its more advisable to go to digital workshops instead of filling stations for these service nowadays. if u stay in asaba, onitsha or awka Nd u don't know whr these kind of shops are located, just holla at 07032909591. This is not an advert. I will just give u directions.
