The first son of Nigeria’s First President, Late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chukwuma Bamidele, is dead.

He died on Sunday at the age of 75.
A family source, who claimed anonymity, said on Monday that the deceased had been battling with respiratory ailment for years now.

The source said Bamidele, as he was called by friends and associates, died at Borromeo Hospital in the commercial city of Onitsha.

Before his death, he was addressed in Onitsha as the Owelle, replacing his late father in 1996.

R.I.P great man, the scion of the Great Zik. I can still remember you sitting like a fulfilled old man during the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall University of Ibadan along with GMB, El Rufai, Bisi Akande, Abiola Ajimobi, Rashidi Ladoja etc. I still have the picture I took while you were delivering your speech. God bless you sir. The Zik name lives on. Zik Hall, the greatest hall in the University of Ibadan, the greatest hall in Africa.

RIP man. Your father is/was a political legend. Zik still remains the foremost Nigerian nationalist, no other comes close. If there's one reason why I don't want Nigeria to breakup, it is only because of Nnamdi Azikiwe. His dreams for Nigeria must come to pass.
