Israelis are today selecting a new PM to replace the outgoing arab puppet Ehud Olmert.

Its a straight fight between Livni (Olmert's lapdog) and right wing Bibi Netanyahu (my personal choice). Hopefully Israelis remember to choose pragmatism over mere pacifist rhetoric.

In one indication of current anti-Arab sentiment in Israel, the ultranationalist Yisrael Beiteinu party has seen its support surge in the lead-up to the election with a campaign demanding that Israeli Arabs, one-fifth of Israel's population, sign a loyalty pledge or lose their citizenship. The polls suggest the party could become the third-largest faction in parliament and play the role of kingmaker in the post-election coalition bargaining.

Five Israeli Arabs were arrested after throwing stones and scuffling with police when a hard-line Jewish candidate provocatively arrived in the Arab town of Umm el-Fahm to serve as an election observer, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said. The candidate was escorted out of the town and there were no injuries, he said.

Arabs and Violence? Synomymns

Is it too much to ask people to affirm their loyalty to the country they claim citizenship?

I support Natenyahu and I hope he allies with Yisrael Beiteinu party. To quash the threat of terrorism.

Khadima failed because of their centrist views They were not strong enough. under them the enemies grew stronger and wielded more influence.

I dont want the Livni option another Golda Meir and her kitchen cabinet
Re: Israel Goes To The Polls by Nobody: 8:40pm On Feb 10, 2009
I'd rather Bibi or that party you mentioned, DK. The arabs are nothing but fifth columnists and hypocrites. They "hate" Israel yet dont want to be a part of a state with their brethren?
Re: Israel Goes To The Polls by dayokanu(m): 8:50pm On Feb 10, 2009
You claim to be Israelis to enjoy the benefit but you are scared to sign a loyalty pledge.

Israel is bad yet Palestinians are crying everyday to go there. So they can Hijack cars and drive it into crowd of people.

This is the worst form of terrorism cos It cant be detected. A man comes into your country unharmed, He hijacks a car and drive it into a crowd of people. Crazy!!!

No guns nor ammution was used. How do you detect such people apart from total blockade

They have to claim Israeli . . . where else in the middle east do they enjoy a free society, inclusive democracy and the right to stone the police?

See all these people analysing israeli elections as if it is their local govt elections. More surprising is the support for the most Extreme Right wing party.

but funny u'd never lose your job if you went about chanting death to Israel huh? grin

We support the right wing parties because they are the only ones with workable solutions regarding the arab-Israeli conflict. If your neighbours are baying for your extinction . . . load up on your weapons and destroy them first chikena. Bash your head against a rock if you hate Bibi . . . grin

. . . grin

There is a difference between attacking a country - political entity and attacking a race - nation.

Insulting Arabs as a race in this derogatory manner is racist

Insulting jews as a race in this derogatory manner is racist as well.

Get the difference , i think we've had this discussion before.

Nation and state are distinct and have diff. meanings

This is basically stupid stuff. When arabs and muslims chant "death to Israel" . . . we know EXACTLY what they mean - death to Israel as a jewish state. i.e. death to the jewish race. We are not gullible airheads.
