The question is, who wrote it? Was he there when this occurence happened? if what the anonymous writer was trying to say is that its spiritual and not physical, then, what about the other occurence that happened in the bible? In that particular chapter, satan was alleged to have taken jesus to the pinnacle of the temple, and he asked him to jump down, citing some OT verses that angels will save, can we say this veerse isn't talking about physical occurence too?
