Resign And Come Home – Igbo Group Tells Olisa Metuh by MayorofLagos(m): 4:15am On May 21, 2015
A pan Igbo group, the Njiko Igbo Forum, on Tuesday called on the national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Olisa Metuh to resign from office with immediate effect.

The Forum also asked the national chairman of the PDP, Adamu Mu’azu to throw in the towel, having failed to deliver the party even in his home state of Bauchi.

President of the group, Rev. Okechukwu Obiora, who addressed a press briefing in Enugu said Metuh’s actions in recent times had become a source of embarrassment to Ndigbo.

become a source of embarrassment to Ndigbo.

While describing the PDP spokesman as ‘political coward,’ he expressed surprise that he was already extending invitation to political associations even while the PDP was still in power.

Obiora said, “Olisa Metuh should honourably resign forthwith and come home; he lacks the idea needed to run that office; we can’t understand how the spokesman of the party in power should be weeping like a child even before the APC takes over.

“It is so embarrassing that Metuh has already declared the PDP dead to the extent of inviting political associations and individuals to come and help him out; so, he should return home and stop disgracing Ndigbo”.

He equally slammed various Igbo groups, including a factional Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, for “hastily paying a congratulatory visit to President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari”.

Obiora stressed that “we see it as huge dissapointment the way they are visiting Buhari in droves, with all the red cap chiefs; we are saying that the way they are running to Buhari is so petty, they are all looking for political appointments”.

While maintaining that the people of the South-East had no regret over their voting pattern in the presidential election, Obiora urged the politicians in the zone to avoid the temptation of jumping sheep to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He urged them to remain steadfast in the PDP and re-strategize ahead of the 2019 general elections.

“We have nothing really against the person of Muhammadu Buhari; but we were not happy that he picked somebody from the South-West as his running mate; remember that a Westerner, in the person of Olusegun Obasanjo, served for two tenure of eight years; then President Jonathan from the South-South has been there for six years.

“Surprisingly, few years later, Buhari again picked Osinbajo from South-West as his running mate; so, we were wondering the place of Ndigbo in scheme of things in Nigerian politics”, he said.

The group equally called on the PDP to reciprocate the support it had received from the zone since 1999 by zoning its 2019 presidential candidate to the South-East.

“We also find it quite curious that the PDP is wooing Atiku Abubakar and Kwakwanso with presidential ticket; we consider such a slight on Ndigbo and it will not work”, he further stated.

We thought it's just the ordinary Igbo trader on the street that lacks political stamina, reading what Njiko Igbo is saying here one wonders if Igbo will ever rule Nigeria in another 50yrs.

Njiko Igbo is the core think tank, they are supreme to Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and to hear such an infantile rant come from them is shocking. They are almost saying PDP is owned by South Easterners now and Ibo wil be the one steering the future of PDP.

Anytime Ibo ascend a political mantle the structure crumbles. PDP is at its current state because of Ibo's mismanagement of GEJs administration. Taking ownership of PDP means death to the party.

This people never cease to amaze me!
Where were they when APC was being built and they were calling them amala party?
Why did they all queue up behind Ebele?
Because he was their kinsman or bear an Igbo name.
What role did they play in the petty and toxic ethnic propaganda against Buhari prior to the election?
This people should just shut da Bleep up!

Some people have no shame and are yet to learn that you can't expect that the Presidency (or even vice presidency) position to be offered to you on a silver platter -- you lobby and negotiate for such positions with other parties and ethnic groups.

But I think these people are merely playing to the gallery coz dashing the VP position the SE in the last Presidential election would've been a waste, and wouldn't have stopped them from rigging voting en mass for Jonathan as they were more than comfortable with their obvious dominance of his administration. That much was very clear from the onset. So why waste such a strategic position on such people?

Truth is, more than any other ethnic group, the SE are the least loyal to the Nigeria project since independence as they still nurse secessionist ambitions which they boldly propagate, so why should anyone take their double-speak at face value?

Wrong title of topic. Mayoroflagos, grow some sense please!

Buhari had had two Igbos as vice presidential candidates,it didn't work.
He had a yoruba man as vice,it didn't also work.
He again tried another yoruba man and it worked.

He's not to be blamed,is he?

Spot on! While brainstorming on the next step to the survival of the south east/south, the bolded crossed my mind a couple of times. The north and the south west have conspired to further suppress the south east/south region through strategically manipulating the elections to be at the helm of affairs in Nigeria. The way forward now points to PDP fielding a south easterner in the 2019 elections against the emerging candidate of the apc which is likely to be a notherner or south westerner.

I share this sentiments because other regions that make up the Nigerian state seem to underestimate the population of the South easterners/ southerners both home and abroad. If the PDP can humble itself and present a south easterner, they would have the backing of the south-east, south-south, a divided middle belt vote and a massive vote from millions of Nigerians based in diaspora coming home to vote for one of their own.

The author of this article has seen a possible strategy to keep the south east/south relevant in the political atmosphere after 2019 and the PDP better pay attention to this thought in order to survive as a regional party.
Coming to think of it, why has the south east not produced a president in the 60+ Years of existence of Nigeria? Is there a law that forbids the south east from ruling? Being that the south eastern region has suffered persecution, genocide, segregation etc! I say 2019 is the time for the south eastern part of Nigeria to rule this country and they ought to start making preparation to raising a credible person for the task starting right now. Off course this should be done by using the regional party (PDP) that reigns supreme in the south east/south apart from Edo and imo states respectively.

"We are not happy he picked a south westerner since Obj was there for 8 years". Now this is the selective amnesia and hypocrisy that get me wondering what the hell is in these guys' head (this guy and Uduaghan). Obasanjo didn't pick a south easterner, Yaradua didn't, Jonathan didn't, and yet they have a problem with Buhari's choice only.

So irritating.

You are just ranting.
In 2003 and 2007, Buhari choose a S/Easterners as his running mates respectively, what happen then the, Igbos still went ahead and vote Pdp.
Are you saying Pdp is now a regional party? A party of the S/Easterners? If so, then you need to wake up from your slumber.

Lack of long term vision, that's what this is? You want to be president, yet you hate those whose votes you need to succeed. Until this internal inconsistency in their approach to national politics is resolved, the chances of an Igbo presidency will still be slim. Burning bridges through hate-filled rhetorics against northerners or the SW is just plain dumb, unless of course they have no interest in the presidency!

Stop being ridiculous. There is nothing awful about discussing igbo politics. They need to raise their standards and adopt a value and political re-orientation if they want to remain relevant in Nigeria.

What do you know about Njiko Igbo that you rated them high above Ohanaeze Ndigbo?
Do you know that Njiko Igbo was founded by Orji Uzor Kalu for his own selfish political ambition towards 2015 general elections.
IYF,Njiko Igbo was founded and financed by OUK to rally Ndigbo behind him for his 2015 presidential ambition that never be.
