Fuel Subsidy Scammers Blackmailed Nigeria For $1 Billion Payout - BBC by AlfaSeltzer(m): 11:14pm On May 25, 2015
At the heart of the shortage has been a row over the payment to wholesalers of the difference between the subsidised pump price and the international market price.

The wholesalers say they were waiting for a $1bn payout from the government before they released more fuel.

But now the marketers association has told its members to start transporting fuel from the depots in the commercial capital, Lagos, and fuel stations have been instructed to reopen, Mr Fasali told the BBC Hausa Service.

A committee will now be set up to verify the $1bn figure and then pay the outstanding money. The government has not yet confirmed the details.

It appears the fuel importers and marketers who operate a multi-billion dollar scam have blackmailed the government into agreeing to one more payout as they are not sure how much longer the fuel subsidy racket will go on.

The details of the payout are not clear.

Over the last few weeks, they literally shut down the nation saying they were owed $1bn in arrears, but no-one has yet seen how that figure is worked out.

Many government officials, including employees of the state fuel company, are so intertwined in the fraud it is hard to know who is scamming who.

One is tired of reading and hearing this line of argument. Jonathan just wanted to remove subsidy while leaving the importing cabal intact to exploit Nigerians. What is required is outright deregulation where anyone who can afford it could import petroleum products of approved quality or build refineries so there would be fair market determined prices.

You have no brain.

Fuel subsidy will be scrapped and you will do nothing.

Even your governors have since called for its scrapping.

Still whining about listening to GEJ. What was the effect of the partial subsidy removal? GEJ scammed Nigeria, he promised to build new refineries and repair old ones, that didn't happen, these cabals will rip Nigeria to shreds if subsidy were to be removed under this outgoing government because GEJ is a toothless president and all they have to do is simply gang up and hoard the product and make it expensive. GEJ won't get that heroic name you want to give him through the backdoor, he finished this country

Change is truly here to stay.

Get ready for an end to fuel subsidy. It will prepare you for a life without free oil money and help your return back to farming cash crops because whether you like it or not this country is heading for breakup.

Enjoy your Caliphate.

Coming from a citizen of Gbese Land who happen to be the only people in Nigeria NOT to have agitated for independence.

Even the north was the first region to raise a secessionist plan prior to independence. The South South also followed by Biafra.

We know who the parasitic cowards are and it is you guys..

This is why you had no pre colonial opposition figures.

You are born slaves.
