The essence of this thread is to provide a common ground for all peace loving Nigerians to profer solutions and the way forward on communal crisis which have become a re-occurrence within our own communities. To provide an avenue for e-dialogue for more peaceful coexistence. It is not and should not be an avenue for us to incite one tribe or section of the country against the other.
We all have to unite for this cause whether your region is affected or not because crisis spread with stubborn flames faster than fire.
We have to do this with all sence of urgency, if not the history and circle of revenge may be very costly and difficult to contend with in the near future.

Gunmen Kill 100 Christian Villagers in Central Nigeria.
While all eyes have been on Nigeria’s northeastern regions where the radical Islamic group Boko Haram is finally being countered by multi-national military forces, violence targeting Christian communities in the group of states across the center of Nigeria, known as the Middle Belt, has increased dramatically. These increased attacks came ahead of Presidential elections on March 28th.
In the early hours of March 15th, in a village near the Cameroon border, Fulani herdsmen slaughtered 100 people, including women and children; the gunmen broke into homes and started shooting unsuspecting victims as they slept in their beds.
A witness who escaped the killings said, "We were still sleeping when they entered our village and started shooting sporadically in all directions, killing every human and animal in sight." The Fulani destroyed crops and set houses ablaze in what a local priest described as as the worst attack by the herdsmen in four years.
Presidential candidate General Muhammadu Buhari, an ethnic Fulani, condemned the attack as "killings in cold blood."
Many Fulani are known to have strong links with regional Islamist movements. They are a largely nomadic tribe scattered across a wide area of central Africa and found in countries from Senegal to Sudan. Since 2011, Fulani raids and targeted killings have taken hundreds of lives, including many victims from Christian communities.
Zangang, in the mainly Christian-populated southern region of Kaduna state, in the northern part of the Middle Belt, has also come under persistent attacks. Zangang is one of the ancestral homes of the mainly Christian Atakad ethnic group, which locals say is falling into the hands of the Fulani invaders as they continue to ravage communities in southern Kaduna.
The murder of the traditional ruler of Zangang, Yohanna Daniel Shinkut, on January 3rd of this year has raised fresh concerns about the rising number of killings in the southern part of Kaduna state since 2011. Elizabeth Shinkut, widow of the late chief, told World Watch Monitor that Fulanis first targeted her husband about three years ago; adding that he narrowly escaped the first attempt on his life in 2013.
"The problem started," Mrs. Shinkut recalled, "when the Fulani started sending letters to our communities that they were coming to attack us. My husband immediately started mobilizing members of the community to be on their guard. Since that first attack on him, my husband never knew peace again. They burned our house last year, and we are yet to fully recover from that incident, and now they got him this time around."
"He went to Kafanchan [a southern town in Kaduna State] to pick up a battery for the car. About three hours later, I saw his missed call on my phone; I couldn’t call back immediately because I had no credit on my phone. But after a short while, I heard gun shots. I ran so fast I fell and hurt myself. I managed to get up and ran to where I could load my phone." She tried several times to call her husband on his cell phone. He did not answer, and the phone seemed to have been switched off. That’s how she and other relatives made the discovery that he’d been killed.
"We got to the car and saw his lifeless body inside," she continued. "His hands were still on the steering wheel. The car was riddled with bullets from all sides. His body was riddled with bullets. "As we were pushing the car home with the corpse, the Fulani opened fire at us. [Nigerian] soldiers responded by firing back at them, and we ran to the bush."
‘‘We are a peaceful people. We don’t know what we have done to these people. We have been praying to God to touch their hearts and stop these killings and destruction." Every family in the community has a story about loved ones who were killed, their homes being destroyed and escaping from being killed.
Enock Andong, another community leader in Kaduna State, explained that the attacks normally go unchallenged, whether taking place in the night or the day. He also stated that the Fulanis have sophisticated weapons that can only be supplied by the military. He reported that although the security agencies have been trying their best, the hilly terrain of the area has been a challenge to the special military task force deployed to the southern part of Kaduna state since the post-election violence in 2011.
"The Fulanis come from Ganaruwa, kill our people, burn our houses and run back. They have destroyed all economic activity in our communities as people have run away from their homes. There is also impending hunger because victims of the attacks no longer go to their farms as it is not safe." Schools, churches, and homes, along with farmlands and grazing areas have been leveled, further devastating village life. Andong declared that the only way to address the problem was through collaboration between the authorities in Kaduna and Plateau states.

My bro we are not here to trade blames. Neither is this the time to. The Fulani Militia has being unlishing terror and mayhem on the middle belters for several years now. The attacks have nothing to do with the incoming government. Rather the present government cared less. We are here to solve problems and not to point accussing fingers thanks.

Again Fulani Militia Kills 90 in Benue.
No fewer than 90 persons were killed yesterday when heavily armed Fulani marauders attacked Agatu local government area of Benue State killing and destroying houses and farmlands.
This culminated in the killing of hundreds of farmers, including men, women and children, who got displaced from their ancestral homes, with no food and shelter. The assailants traced and attacked most of the fleeing residents who tried to escape.
Reports say the bloody raid occurred at about 5am when the gunmen in their hundreds invaded the Egba community and immediately set the village ablaze, killing and destroying every property in sight.
The lawmaker representing Apa/Agatu constituency in the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Audu Sule, while escaping from the attack yesterday, told newsmen in Makurdi that “this attack is deadly. The attackers who came in their hundreds killed scores and more than 80 corpses have so far been recovered.”
According to Sule, some of the displaced persons are taking refuge at Ogbalu and Obagaji, the headquarters of Agatu local government while scores have continued to run for safety.
The deputy governorship candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Mr. John Ngbede, an Agatu native, described the attack as sad and claimed it had a political undertone. He appealed to the state and federal governments to deploy and station military troops to the areas to avert further attacks.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Hyacinth Dagala, who confirmed the raid, said men of the police command had arrived at the scene of the attacks and had so far recovered several dead bodies.
He went on to state that investigation to unravel and arrest the perpetrators was ongoing.

Benue Residents Flee to Taraba, Others After Fulani’s Invasion.
Hundreds of people are said to be fleeing the agrarian communities that are constantly under attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
A community leader from Anyiin, who identified himself simply as Agber, told our correspondent that the invaders were suspected to be hiding in Nasarawa State.
Agber said, “We have every belief that this suspected Fulani insurgents, who continually invade and displace our communities, are been camped in Nasarawa State.
“They usually attack us and retreat to Nasarawa State without resistance from there and our submission is that the Governor of Nasarawa State should assist our communities to stop their movement along their border.”
It was gathered that hundreds of persons had been rendered homeless by the gunmen while the displaced persons had no where to hide in the area, leaving them with no option but to flee.
Residents of Anyiin and other villages in Ukemberagya council were said to have fled to the neighbouring communities of Taraba State.
Others were said to be crossing the tributaries of River Benue at Buruku and Kwatan Sule.
Kwaghgande, who was sighted at the bank of Buruku River with his wife, children and few personal belongings, said, “The situation is terrible and we can no longer stay, no camps; and that is why we are running to stay with my brother-in-law at Tyogbenda community.
Meanwhile, the Benue State Government has set up a joint security operations to restore normalcy in the affected communities.

Herdsmen kill at least 96 people in Nigeria's Benue state.
JOS, Nigeria (Reuters) - At least 96 people were killed in Benue state in Nigeria's middle belt region when several villages were attacked by suspected Fulani herdsmen, a state police spokesman and an army source said on Tuesday.
Hundreds are killed each year in clashes pitting the semi-nomadic, cattle-herding Fulani people against more settled communities that practice a mix of farming and cattle rearing, driven by disputes centred around land use.
A senior military officer said fighting around five villages lasted several days in the Logo local government area of Benue.
Police spokesman Austine Ezeani said a mobile police unit was deployed to the area.
The unrest is often seen as sectarian in nature since Fulanis are Muslim and the communities with which they are in conflict in central Nigeria - where the country's mostly Christian south and Muslim north meet - tend to be Christian.
Nigerian troops fought militiamen in early May after dozens were killed in villages on the border of middle belt states Plateau and Taraba.

Suspected Fulani Militia Invade Tiv Community, Kill Six.
Despite the spirited efforts of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG, Operations, Michael Zuokumor led committee to bring to an end the lingering bloody conflict between Tiv farmers/Fulani herders, suspected Fulani militia, Thursday evening invaded Governor Gabriel ‘s home town at Anyii, leaving six persons dead.
Saturday vanguard gathered that the marauders numbering over 100 also attacked Chembe, Ifer and Tse Gundu, Anawah settlement at Ukemberaga/Tswarev ward of Logo local government area.
One of the fleeing natives told Saturday Vanguard that the invaders launched their attack on the affected communities from two fronts.
According to him, “they came in two groups numbering over hundred; one of the groups came through Ikapa-Tse Gundu road to attack Chembe village while the other group emerged from a far route and bursting out at Achive compound.
”At Achive, they mounted a road block along Anyiin-Wukari road shooting sporadically, forcing the people who had returned to their homes after fleeing previous attacks to scamper into the bush for safety.
”The attackers carried out the operation for several hours killing about six people without molestation despite the supposed presence of security operatives in the area.”
Corroborating the story, the Senior Special Assistant to the state Governor on Media, Chief Anawah Joseph who hails from one of the affected communities said two bodies had so far been recovered from his community.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Superintendent Dan Ezeala said the incident was not a Fulani attack but robbery at Chinwe community where he said two corpses were found.
According to Ezeala, the information got to the anti terrorists squad stationed in the area who stormed the affected community; “it was discovered that there was no destruction of property, which clearly indicated that it was not a Fulani attack but robbery incident.”

Fulani mercenaries launched attacks on Agatu communities in Benue state claims 45 lives.
BARELY a month after suspected Fulani mercenaries launched attacks on Agatu communities in Benue state, killing 82 persons, another communal clash involving the Ologba and Egba communities of Agatu dialect claimed the lives of 45 people yesterday.
The Guardian’s investigation revealed that during the invasion of Agatu communities by Fulani herdsmen in March this year, the 82 people that were feared killed were of Egba extraction of the Agatu community.
The victims in yesterday’s clash were said to be of the Ologba community. But confirming the incident on telephone, the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Hyacinth Dagala, said only 23 dead bodies were discovered, while three persons sustained serious injuries and had been taken to the hospital.
The police commissioner said that the villagers had been fighting over a fishpond and that the renewed crisis was as a result of suspicion by the Egba community that the Ologba had organized the recent deadly Fulani invasion against them.
Dagala said relative calm has returned to the warring communities, adding that his men are on ground to maintain peace in the area. Also, confirming the incident, Mr. John Ngbede, the immediate past Commissioner for Works and PDP Deputy Governorship candidate in the just concluded election, who hails from the area, said the communities have had long-standing unresolved issues.
Ngbede said that in the wake of yesterday’s clash, which started in the evening, many people were injured, even as thousands are now refugees in Ogbagaji, headquarters of the Agatu Local Government Area.
Suspected Fulani herdsmen, last month, killed dozens of people, among them women and children, and burnt down houses in Egba Community of Agatu Local Council of Benue State.
A witness from the community said heavily armed Fulani mercenaries besieged the community at about 5am and began to shoot sporadically. The Guardian’s investigation revealed that the crisis between the Agatu people of the state and the Fulani herders began in 2013 and has reccurred more than four times this year.
Residents said each time the herders launched an attack, they did so through the Nasarawa state axis across River Benue, using their cows as shield.
Expressing grief over the killing of his people, the member representing Agatu at the State House of Assembly, Audu Sule, called on the Federal Government to urgently intervene to prevent further loss of lives and property in the area.
Meanwhile, recurring clashes between nomadic Fulani herdsmen and farmers in Benue and Plateau States, occasioned by the desire of the former to feed their cattle at the expense of farmlands, have been traced to the effect of desertification.
According to environmentalist, Dr. Alade Adeleke, former Technical Director, Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), and now Independent Consultant, Biodiversity Enterprise and Rural Development, “We have a lot to do to mitigate the effects of desertification, occasioned by climate change. And as long as climate change continues to wreak havoc on the environment, the crises will persist”.
Adeleke called for a workable policy framework on wetlands, land use and resource management, if government sincerely wishes to curb the orgy of violence.

Fifty feared dead as suspected Fulani militia attack IDP camps in Benue
About fifty people have been killed, with scores missing, after gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia on Sunday attacked some villages hosting internally displaced persons in Logo local government area of Benue State.
The suspected Fulani militia also burnt houses, churches and markets, also looting personal belongings and farm produce. 27 bodies have been recovered so far.
The attack which took place between 5 and 6pm affected Iorza, Faga, Per and Ukura villages, where the IDPs have been taking refuge since they were first attacked some months ago.
Joseph Anawa, Special Assistant to the Governor, described the attack as ‘deadly’.
The villagers allege that security operatives attached to the area to provide cover for the IDPs may have connived with their attackers.
Meanwhile the Benue State Police Command through its Spokesperson, ASP Austin Ezeani, have confirmed the attack. Ezeani stated that he could not ascertain the number of casualties.
