The Southeast And Its Agitation For Biafra. by vayne(m): 11:41am On Jun 07, 2015
The southeast.

The war had ended, bygones had been bygones..but..
The Nigerian gotv. Had continued to rape and marginalized the southeast economically and politically.
Economically: by frustrating major bills/projects that can creat a boost in the region(I.e federal absence).
Politically:the mindset of the other two major ethnic group that "an IGBO president will divide Nigeria" is still hunting Nigeria.this mindset alone will make it difficult for SE to get president, not to talk of other factors.
Now tell me,who is yet to MOVE ON.?

The south south

Some few deluded ones keeps saying the SE has its eye on the SS's oil, that's why it wants it in the struggle for Biafra.
What is SS?
Do they own the oil on their own soil?
How has the oil on their soil boosted their economy?
Is their oil responsible for the current progress IGBOS are making in present day Nigeria?
I ask these because a real blooded south southerner knows where he belongs,we were never divided, the majority have their origins in the SE.
Buhari is to resume the search for oil along lake chad basin, this would obviously render the SS irrelevant.

Internal developments within the SE

It's is true that it's a step in the right direction,but...
have you taken into consideration the allocation to each of these states?
These are mega projects meant to be carried out with the support of "FEDERAL GOVERNMENT".
They can only be independently carried out by sovereign states.
Where do you expect them to generate such capital from?....workers salaries? The workers that haven't been paid for months?
Have you wondered if these states have an external source of income and revenue?(in a region where industries are not much).
How do you expect the SE to attract foreign investors to its region without federal presence.
Do you want to bankrupt the states. wink

The election

Before and After the election, threats and taunts came from different top political and traditional rulers(especially that of the oba of Lagos),his statements alone can make any non-indigene feel unwanted even though he claims he meant well...sadly it contributed.
Everyone keeps talking about building political bridges,Did Jonathan start the 16yrs of pdp misrule? No,who did?
Jonathan spent his first 4yrs trying to please the north, they benefitted more.
This is a country ravaged by ethnicity,we are so different from each other, that we are still living together is by God's grace.
The Hausas voted for one of their own,the Yorubas voted for one of their own.
It is only fair that IGBOS voted for one of theirs.

The aftermath

If there is a peaceful secession,I don't see any reasons why Nigeria would need to sanction and nationalize biafran businesses or cut food supply.
You can't just sanction businesses of biafra's or cut food supply and still expect free flow of petroleum/oil products to the Nigeria.
It's business,Europe had gone that path against Russia after the Ukraine crisis, but they found out there was no road there when Russia struck back with its own sanctions. grin grin
Again,no one has monopoly of farming

Finally,if the southeast had the support of federal govt,it would have been the China of Africa.
Despite the marginalization, the SE is still well developed on the average, far better than many regions in the country. .

Did you know:
Belonging together and needing eachother are two different things

Biafra has come to stay.
I have given up on nigeria cry

When will this insanity of daily opening of Biafra thread come to an end?

Seun needs to create a biafra section for this bunch of clowns, lest they keep spamming Politics section with their incessant whining over their spilled milk, like bush babies.

I am not interested in your Biafra if you do not open them on NL.

Open such threads on your Igbofocus, Elombah and Biafra. Com. Be rest assured, you won't see us there.

As this stands, this is a site for Nigerians and not secessionists. Take your secession to your strictly ndigbo sites.

Are you lots not even ashamed of your hypocrisy. Shouting Biafra on NL and you cannot take same to your igbotic sites.

What is it with ibos and empty chest beating. There was a time on Nairaland when most of the topics were based on solid issues with a lot of intelligent people making contributions.
Then came the ibos with their petty tribalism and civility went out of the window. All we see these days are motor park level topics about Biafra.

A competiton that would have brought good business environ to Nigeria and Nigerians at large was quenched by hatred to the Igbos. Knowing fully well what the outcome would have been btw Ibeto and Dangote, Obj (yoruba), as usual, connived with their (hausa) religious brother (though he himswlf is an acclaimed christian) Dangote due to power he wielded then, not considering benefits of competition to the masses and to the country, rather considered his share from the monopoly. Now a single individual in a country of 170 mil population monopolises and determines mkt flow of many goods that owuld have otherwise, engaged many hands in dealing with different production and distribution of didderent goods. That is, having strong competition among dealers or producers.

This and many more that happened recently simply show that, Biafra is our only hope.

Folks from SouthEast always talking about been marginalized as if they never had any representatives at the centre who represent them. In the Obasanjo administration, the number 3 position in the country was zoned to the region coupled with other posts, what did their leaders of the time do to better their lots? Aldofore Wabara, Ken Nnamani, Chuba Okadigbo, Pius Anyim and others went to the centre for their own pockets; how is that the fault of other regions? Yaradua regime had couple of them again at the centre, what happened? Same story, worked for themselves and their pockets. This last regime even gave the region more controlling power, but the leaders again only thought of their pockets. There've always been Five governors every four years from the region since inception of this democracy, were they doing the right thing for their lamenting people? Pls let stop whipping up the ethnic sentiment and playing the marginalization card because nobody will listen. The days of playing victim in the entity call Nigeria is over, we all must at every point in time question our Leaders. There shouldn't be unreasonable reason(s) not to perform. If the people of South East feel shortchanged in Nigeria, they should ask their leader questions; sentiment should be bury for the good of all. SouthEast ought to have been more than what it is now in terms of development. Let start asking the right question(s).
