It was a beautiful sunny afternoon, the wind was blowing gently and
there was this kind of frenzy atmosphere, everyone seemed to be in a
light mood under the big mango tree, right at the gate of my PPA.
Myself, Osaro, Omoh and Kiwi were busy gisting about football, I
happened to be a Chelsea fan, though not a fanatic, so didn’t know
much about the club’s history. But Osaro, being a die-hard Man U fan
was trying to prove so many points why his team is superior to mine.
All I was just saying was UP BLUES, we are the champions.

‘The only thing you know about Che…Chelsea is the colour of their
jersey’ Osaro, being a light stammerer, said.

‘Is blue the only colour of Chelsea?, don’t we were brown
sometimes?’ I confidently replied. Everyone burst into laughter.

‘Sometimes, they were cream color’ Kiwi rhetorically said.
‘What’s funny? Tell me if am wrong or why you all mocking me…’ I
was switching into anger mode

‘Who dey mock you? Na you dey mock yourself for here’ Omoh cut in

I just left the place in anger and I was going out the gate, out of
nowhere I will say, came out this pretty damsel and I knew I would
never forgive myself if I didn’t follow up.

I tried to check my dressing and wiped sweat off my face, used my
mouth spray and even applied a little of the spray on my palm, incase
am lucky to get a hand shake.

I moved closer and tried to perceive the fragrance in my mouth, but
covering my mouth with my palm and blowing a gentle air. It smelt
nice. I cleared my throat twice and said Hi.

She looked back and before she knew it, I had caught up with here.
We were both walking side-by-side now. ‘Am Dami, and I am not sure
you live in this vicinity’ That was my trademark introduction.

‘No’ she replied, ‘Just passing by’

‘Okay, so can you do me the honour of telling me what your name is?’

‘Am ChidiEbele and you?’ She asked

I felt butterflies flying in my tummy as she asked me my name, not
even remembering that was the 1st thing I told her, but I don’t mind
anyway, I repeated myself and told her I will like to be her friend.
She said no problem just that she is in a hurry and won’t mind me
giving her my number that she would call.

I asked to get hers but she refused and I didn’t want to lose on both
ends, so I succumbed and gave her mine and hoping and praying she
calls.

We parted and I went back to my friends. They had all noticed me
with the lady and were all hailing as I was approaching.

‘Up bluessssssss’ they all chorused

‘Abi na, up brownsssssss’ Osaro jokingly said.

I just smiled and had a seat and narrated the whole deal to them.
I was just staring at my phone and hoping to receive here call. Then
at that moment did a strange call came in and excitedly I picked.
Changed my voice to a cleaner, sweeter one and said ‘ Hello’
‘Will you like to participate in our on-going promo of who wants to be
a Millionaire?’ The voice of a lady said at the other end. Damn , it was
my network provider calling.

I hissed and just disconnected the call.

‘Stupid people’ I venomously said.

Everyone just burst into laughter.
It happened that Chidi never called until the 3rd day.
