how much good will it do this child to hang, castrate or whatever her father?Seems to me very little. It's a different cultural than where I am but we have the same mindless appetite for vengeance at the expense of actually helping victims

By the way, I wandered about her mother, her whereabouts, departure from the matrimonial home or demise Sadly, the girl child is always endangered in circumstances such as this. It could have been a wayward neighbour, uncle or any random guy with some cash. Extended family those days was useful in sheltering a child in this sort of situation. An aunt could have taken her in to shield her even from the cruelty of a stepmother. My sister had to shield a boy child (cousin's child) from the cruelty of step mom recently. A first child whose mom had passed and with the way he was being raised he be deprived of education. Oh.... so many thoughts. ..... so sad. The relatives must intervene, she can't go back there.
