London-based Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation has appointed a Nigerian, Mr. Shola Taylor, the Secretary-General of the organisation.

The CTO is an international treaty organisation that supports its members in integrating information and communication technologies to deliver effective development interventions that emancipate, enrich, equalise and empower people within the Commonwealth and beyond.

The news was broken by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications Technology, Dr. Tunde Olaopa, at the Commonwealth Broadband Forum which opened in Abuja on Tuesday.

CTO confirmed the appointment in a statement made available to our correspondent by Marcel Belingue.

Belingue said Taylor will assume the new role from September 17.

Taylor is currently the chief executive officer of Kemilinks International, a global ICT consultancy firm based in Lagos.
