It could be birds. That's the reason why you should try to plant it a little deep in the soil

Pls dont sow your seeds deeper than 1 inch. Or else you ruin their life from begining. It may germinate, but with much effort. this will lead to sick or poor plant.

l take you laaaaaaf bro. grin grin I also planted a plot (about 15 * 35m) of watermelon on 29th of May. l also planted a 5gram MURANO cucumber beside it same day. they all germinated but killed by excess rainfall. Am now using the plot for OKRA (Ila). lt may be excess rain if order things remain accurate. use the land for something else for now.

This my okra plant .........unable to upload pics. Yes, only sandy soil with highly raised beds can sustain watermelon and cucumber for this period.

Let me quickly say this. Quiters never win. Continuation pays. it will give you an edge. l completed soil preparation and sowing of my backyard farm in less than an hour (removing debris from former production, little weeding, redressing the beds, and sowing).
This season 2, we are growing hybrid cucumber from Seminis (a seed company from US). DARINA MIX is the specie.

Lettuce would be a nice try if your soil supports it as harvest is within 2 months and gets higher price than green and shoko.

Yes do your research, check out markets around you. Lettuce is used for salads thus commanding higher price than shoko and others.
