Controversy surrounding the alleged illegal diductions Excess Crude Account by former finance minister and coordinating minister of the economy Okonjo Iweala, took an interesting dimension when the President set up a probe panel to investigate the matter. The action of the President in setting up the probe panel is ok since it is within his powers as President of Nigeria. I expected the President to set up an independent body of professional auditors to look into the issue. But was bombarded with shock when I discovered that APC govs were the panel. What good will come out of a probe panel composed of APC govs, considering the fact that they have vested interest, and it was an APC governor that first accused former finance minister of mismanaging the excess crude account? Why not employ professional independent auditors for an indept investigation without sentiments? This is like asking a lion to investigate whether an antelop's meat is sweeter than suger before the final kill. Isn't that absurd? A lion is a lion. It will eat the antelop completely whether the meat is sweet or not.
The President's failure to appoint independent professionals for impartial investigation of the ECA amounts to nothing but an already planed program of Witchhunt against former GEJ's ministers. This is not fear.
We all know how irresponsible these govs are. Instead of providing good governance in their states, they prefare to engage in frivolities. Look at that Osun state gov. Few years ago he made serious noise on the media that he does'nt need federal allocation to pay workers salaries. Today he's owing Osun workers 8 months in salaries and arrears! Isn't that unbelievable? Thesame gov went on to accuse former President GEJ over his inability to pay salaries. Is that an responsible gov? What about Ameachi, the gov who was at the forefront in fighting Okonjo Iweala over the sharing of ECA only to loot Rivers State dry leaving badluck of workers salaries unpaid.
When these same govs are now giving the task to investigate that which they themselves are guilty of then it becomes a matter for concern.
Clearly it has become a Big Deal to Castigate, Witchhunt and harass former GEJ's ministers over mismanagement than investigate these irresponsible state govs that mismanaged their own allocations on useless ventures.

Thats irrrelevant. Indepenent Professional Auditors should have been the best option, not panel of irresponsible govs.

The problem is not the person setting up the probe panel. The problem is the composition of the probe panel. Why involve govs with vested in ECA? It does'nt make sence.
