Hmmm. I am not an electronics-savvy person. I can't even tell which transistor or capacitor got damaged, neither do I even know the difference between the two.

I think I'll leave all these ups thing for now. I've always been unlucky.

Thanks a lot. Bless you.

Before u take it to a repairer, open with a screw driver and see of it has a fuse and if the fuse or a transistor or capacitor is damaged

Unstable voltage from PHCN can damage these chargers quickly.

My friend's charger spoilt within a week of use while I have been using the same charger for more than 18 months now. I found out his home voltage is unstable.

Re: How To Create A Locally Made Inverter With Ease by TaiKuun(m): 9:47am On Jan 06
even my UPS, the electrician used a 220VAC 0.15A cooling fan inside the UPS. When I calculated the wattage, 220 x 0.15 = 33Watts. Imagine a common UPS fan consuming 33 Watts when my standing fan is just 54 Watts. I insisted that he used a VDC fan (which would do the same job at 3-5 Watts) but the e-doit didn't listen.

So, I would be happy if you can fix the battery charger for me oo... Where do you stay?

From d bolded
It is 12v x 0.15 = 1.8w
It is a 12v dc fan
Re: How To Create A Locally Made Inverter With Ease by TaiKuun(m): 10:00am On Jan 06
The fan is not VDC, it is rated AC 220 Volts, and connected to the AC Outlet part of the UPS.
Also, I use a 24v Bluegate 1200VA UPS, not 12v.

This does not regulate your voltage but protects your appliances from overvoltage, undervoltage and power surge(if supported). Get a stabilizer to regulate your voltage.

Boss, I've tried all possible methods o. Lithium or not, Manual or Automatic, I think the battery charger should switch on upon connecting it to the mains. It doesn't.

It no longer charges, and only switches on (no load or battery full mode) when connected to the battery.

Hello bro,

I am guessing the charger was working (i.e. charging) before the power went off (either through PHCN power outage or you unplugged it to plug it back), after which the red charging indicator light stopped coming up, right?

I experienced it as well, and these were what i did:

I discharged my battery bank a little, then connected the charger back and it continued charging. Or, i left it for sometime, and when power returned, it continued charging. I think it needed to cool or something like that

Try these tips and let us know

Hey Nnamdi.

Thanks for your experience-based feedback. I actually appreciate it.
Unfortunately, mine was a more serious case, but I got it repaired at a nearby local electrician's shop; he replaced the power IC.

Thanks a lot.

I don't like using my chargers and ups with stabilizers

My sincere empathies, bro.

Consider using surge protector while using the device. It may be very prone to current surges.

Glad you got it all sorted out.

Same thing has happened again.

My brother switched off the Gen while I was still using it to charge batteries. By the time NEPA brought light, it has stopped working again.

Omo! Not until I spent another money on repairs. I got a small 1KVA voltage stabilizer with AVR and delay function in order to protect my precious battery charger.

Thanks for asking.
