The questions shouldn't be abstract and should not be set in such a way that those that aren't mathematic major won't be able to attempt it. There are also a lot of basic yet tough questions( much of those should be considered for the quiz so that a wide variety of participants can take part for a reasonable period and not just abscond at the sight of complex advanced mathematics questions.

I love the style that was introduced to the last quiz competition where at a stage, each participant gets a unique question which must be answered within a stipulated time after which the question will be opened to other participants as a bonus. this should be continued.

At a latter and very important stage of the competition, all answers should be sent to a mail address and not posted here in order to avoid dubbing by participants at the nick of time. Last time, there was a funny scenario where some participants started getting the same answer as the the one that was posted by a participant, only for all of them to be wrong. If they were correct, it would have been free points so the email address option comes handy here.

Sometimes, I think network issues should be considered, could get so bad at times thus, the time for submitting answers should be extended a little bit.
#The major downside of an online quiz is that there might be multiple persons behind a moniker or several solvers as participants aren't visible# Still fun though.

Lastly, please, the competition shouldn't take place during work hours. Night time will be the best during workdays.

So far, So better. However, I feel these two inputs will redefine it towards the best.

1- Organization:
--- Fixed time for posting and answering of questions.
--- measures taken for modifying answers by participants.
--- Level of Questions: In as much as I will love brain teasing mathematics questions, there is still a need to diversify them. But again, we need to take note that it is not a crime if a Statistician fails repeatedly in Computational Mathematics,its not his field. In lieu of this, I recommend Stages for the test questions. From simple Math. Questions to Brain Teasers(Reasoning). Each Stage will cross out questions from Trigonometry to Geometry, Algebra to Statistics. If need be, A tougher stage may cut across Analysis to Computational Mathematics.

In Summary, Each stage should provides a participant an average level of questions and average participation.


2--- Formatting of Questions and Answers. The issue of incorporating mathematical symbols can be alarming! Though, we can use "/=" to represent "not equal to" but can we easily find replicas for binary operations?
I once advised in the CLINIC about learning to imbibe ourself the culture of using LaTeX but no duly response, maybe the people I am talking to are already gurus using LaTeX

If Possible, Questions should be posted using LaTeX in form of Images. I hope one day Seun will endeavour to include a plugin on the site to enable us type it directly.

The first isn't so clear to me.


2). Speed = Distance / time
Distance = Speed × time
When the cyclist rode(1) we have;

Distance 1 = Xkm/hr × 30mins
Convert 30mins to hour
30mins = 0.5hr
Distance 1 = X. × 0.5
= 0.5Xkm
Distance 2 (When the cyclist pushed the bike)
= (X-5)km/hr × 2hr
= 2(X -5)km
Sum up the distances which becomes less than 60km
0.5X + 2X - 10 < 60
2.5 X < 70
X < 70/2.5
Therefore, X < 28km.
