In view of my personal need to buy a new laptop, I want to know what I should look out for. My budget is #100k and I like He products.

Do not, I repeat do not buy a HP product. Most of their recent offerings do not last past a year before giving problems. Their build quality has also declined because people do not buy laptops for long use anymore as opposed to keeping up with trends.
Sadly I have no idea what brand to recommend to you.

When searching for a system to buy, you've to plan down what you want to use the system for beforehand. This would give you a sure idea of the laptop you need.

List out what you'd use it for and we'd continue from there.

if I might suggest, get a Dell inspiron 3521 notebook with core i3 processor, 6gb RAM, 500gb HDD....those are my laptop's specs.. bought December 2013, till date no single instance of any problem whatsoever.

I don't know wat is inside h.p/compaq that ppl are so hooked to it.

after 6 month they will start coughing out problems.
