President Muhammadu Buhari has on Tuesday, approved the appointment of Brigadier-General Paul Boroh (rtd.) as the Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme for former Niger Deelta militants.

According to the Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), Femi Adesina, Brig. Boroh, whose appointment takes immediate effect, is to take over the responsibilities of the former Special Adviser to President Jonathan on Niger Delta who also doubled as Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme.

The appointment of a new Coordinator for the Amnesty Programme is expected to lead to the speedy resolution of recent hitches in its implementation such as the non-payment of outstanding allowances to ex-militants.

Under the former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Azubuike Ihejirika, Boroh was in September 24, 2010 moved from AHQ Department of Administration to Jaji as the new Commandant, Nigerian Army Peace Keeping Centre.

First thing he needs to do is to make outstanding payments to all Niger Deltans schooling (tuition and upkeep) abroad under federal scholarship. My brothers and sisters have been suffering.
Secondly all federal government projects in the Niger Delta especially the ones that stooped because of a change of government should be revisited
