Buhari Taking Credit For Jonathan’s Achievements, Says Rep. by PhockPhockMan: 1:58pm On Jul 29, 2015

Member of the House of Representatives, Linus Okorie, has flayed President Muhammadu Buhari for failure to acknowledge former President Goodluck Jonathan’s legacies and achievements while in office.

Okorie who represents Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency in Ebonyi State, said he was worried by Buhari’s pattern of appropriating achievements of the immediate past administration and called on him to acknowledge the contributions of former President Goodluck Jonathan to nation building.

Okorie also asked President Buhari to take note of the natural law that “what goes around comes around”, adding that if Buhari cannot be fair to his predecessor, he should expect the same treatment when he leaves office.

He cited examples of projects that were either completed or close to completion before ex-President Jonathan’s exit, noting that it is unfair and unjust for the Buhari administration to take credit for the achievements without acknowledging the role of the initiator and executor.

“Just like the opposition that must be constructive in criticising the government in power, the sitting government owes its predecessor, itself and the wider Nigerian public the moral and social duty of acknowledging the positive accomplishments of their predecessors,” Okorie insisted.

He enumerated some of former President Jonathan’s feats currently being credited to Mr. Buhari such as President Buhari’s acceptance in his recent visit to the United States of America that the U.S. denied Nigeria arms, technology and personnel to fight Boko Haram, which the ex-President had noted but was lampooned by Mr. Buhari’s political party, the APC.

Okorie also cited the recent launch of Kano-Port Harcourt intercity mixed rail service without acknowledging the Jonathan administration that reactivated the railway; the Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna refineries reactivation now refining up to 200,000 barrels of crude oil per day after successful turnaround maintenance initiated and completed by President Jonathan’s government.

Okorie also lamented that President Buhari has been all over the media celebrating Nigeria’s one year polio-free anniversary without any reference to President Jonathan and his policy team that achieved the feat.

“The Jonathan administration introduced cutting edge anti-corruption technology based Public Finance management tools including IPPIS, GIFMIS and TSA, which the present government is now laying claim to for ghost workers elimination and funds accountability and transparency monitoring, without giving credit appropriately.

“The Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) has also announced that the Abuja rail project, conceived and implemented by the Jonathan administration is 67 per cent completed. This credit should also be formally attributed to the past government.

“I hold the view that the Buhari administration should imbibe the necessary humility and courage to give credit as necessary even as it continues to put the out-gone government to task in established areas of weakness or malfeasance. That is leadership. I also appeal to the media as social engineers to also encourage the Presidency in this onerous responsibility. We owe posterity that much,” Okorie said.

Which achievements?

... that the U.S. denied Nigeria arms, technology and personnel to fight Boko Haram, which the ex-President had noted but was lampooned by Mr. Buhari’s political party, the APC.
How is the refusal of USA to sell weapon to Nigeria under GEJ an achievement?

Okorie also cited the recent launch of Kano-Port Harcourt intercity mixed rail service without acknowledging the Jonathan administration that reactivated the railway;
Did Buhari or any one claim it was PMB's achievement? Besides, are we talking of the same locomotive railway that was repainted and brought to us at exorbitant price? The railway as attached here? The same trains that derail because of rail lines that are already obsolete?

Warri and Kaduna refineries reactivation now refining up to 200,000 barrels of crude oil per day after successful turnaround maintenance initiated and completed by President Jonathan’s government.
Refineries that GEJ's administration told us were to resume production in 2016 as reported here by NNPC here?http://nationalmirroronline.net/new/refineriesll-be-back-on-stream-2016-nnpc/ Had GEJ won the election, would the refineries have started work given the fact that they had already given June 2016 date? I did a thread on it here https://www.nairaland.com/2392387/buhari-not-jonathan-responsible-refineries#34952467

“The Jonathan administration introduced cutting edge anti-corruption technology based Public Finance management tools including IPPIS, GIFMIS and TSA, which the present government is now laying claim to for ghost workers elimination and funds accountability and transparency monitoring, without giving credit appropriately.
The anti-corruption technology that didn't recognize that stealing is corruption? The technology that couldn't deter massive looting and short-changing the govt such that thousands of barrels of crudes were lifted but proceeds ended in private accounts of some ministers? The technology that couldn't prevent taking $2bn from ECA without approval of joint-owners?

All in all, I see this as unnecessary cheap blackmail that will not fly.

Sane Nigerians are already grateful to God for giving us Buhari as we have witnessed tremendous improvements in service delivery of all government agencies. This is largely brought about by the body language of the incorruptible General.

The ardent critics (including PDP) of the amiable president even attest to the fact that PMB stands head and shoulder above all in terms of integrity and sincerity. It's not uncommon to now read PDP saying "APC is no different from PDP if not for Buhari". To us, that is huge difference.

GEJ is nothing but a failure.

They (APC) can only deceive their gullible zombies. At least Buhari was honest enough to deny that of the refineries.

The power, The Free and fair elections, the freedom of speech we now enjoy; Which the APC even enjoyed more, The Agricultural reforms, Etc we all enjoy now are some of the numerous achievements of the Jonathan's administration.

Everything that is functional like PHCN and the rest.

If APC opine that 2 months is too short for Buhari to be reviewed then LOGICALLY it means everything that has been done isn't by him - it's GEJ's.

How come APC blame Boko Haram and the economic state on GEJ but want to bask in the spotlight of his achievements?

Oops! I nearly forgot - APC ARE ILLOGICAL AND DELUSIONAL!

You are the same with Buhari hence the Lawmaker decided to address majority APC legislators who are privy to the truth.

It is now on record that a Lawmaker lambasted President Buhari for being cynical and also accused him of legacy theft, intellectual fraud and glory hunting.

How is the embolden an achievement for a lawmaker? Any id.iot on planet earth can open their mouth and accuse a sitting president, so how does that make it a fact, or an achievement for the lawmaker?
