CHAPTER 16

In a perfect situation, when a man becomes hyper-sensitive to the antiques of a woman; it could only mean one thing. He has fallen in love..

Femi jolted out of his thought, and cleared his throat as he answered the call, but then silence spoke from the other end. The silence lasted a little longer and suddenly, the line went dead. Femi became very worried, as he sensed trouble, considering the fact that he had called her earlier that evening, hence - for her to call him back at that particular time meant something was definitely wrong. Femi dialled her number thereafter, and she picked at the first ring, her voice could be heard this time; but she was speaking very slowly with a faint tone, as though shivering.

"Hello! How you doing, hope you're fine?" Femi blurted immediately.

"I'm not fine. I'm really in a bad situation right now and you're the only one who I could talk to. I hope you don't mind." She said with a tiny voice.

"What's the problem?, Talk to me!!"

"My roommate locked me outside, and I'm alone, all by myself. I'm really scared!!" Ayo lamented.

"You don't mean it. Where are you now?" Femi enquired.

"I'm sitting on a lone bench outside my lodge."

"You know what, just stay where you are. I'll be with you shortly." Femi quickly dashed out of his room in the speed of light, and mounted a bike to "Royal's Garden" which wasn't too far from his own lodge.

About three minutes later, he arrived at the lodge and met her sitting close to a kiosk, she used her arms to cover her chest as though suffering from a cold. Femi walked closer and sat beside her. Ayo looked downcasted as she could barely stare into his face. Femi then removed his pull-over to cover her body and enquired what happened that she was locked outside. It appeared that the lady who she was squatting with, also an aristo chick had brought home a guy whom she recently went on a shopping spree with and politely asked her to excuse them for about an hour before getting back inside, on which she obligied and did exactly as told. But since Ayo had no where else to go, she opted to sit on the bench, hoping to go back inside in an hour time. Unfortunately, when she went back, the room was under key, she knocked to no response and then called the roommate on phone, but she refused to answer the call, though, she could hear the phone ringing from inside. Ayo had said that she moved towards the window and overheard voices of them making out, that was when she decided to leave and called the only person she knew, Femi.

It wasn't a time for sober reflection, hence, the need for a drastic action. Without taking into consideration her likely would-be response, Femi told her to pass the night at his place and without hesitation, she yielded to his decision. They waited long enough to get an Okada which then conveyed them to Freedom quarters.

Immediately they stepped into his room, it was dimly illuminated due to the absence of electricity. Femi then went into his kitchenette where he picked a matchstick which he used to ignite a half-burnt candle placed on his reading table. Ayo remained standing - as though not knowing what next to do, then Femi positioned her to sleep on the bed.

After a moment of silence, Femi broke the silence by asking if she was feeling much better and she replied in the affirmative. Thereafter, he proceeded to his luggage where he collected a blanket and handed it to her as cover. He also collected as wrapper which he barely used, sprayed it on the rug, and laid down on it together with a pillow. It appeared as though Ayo wasn't going to show gratitude for his hospitality, just then, she stretch towards his ears and slowly whispered the words "Thank you for being so kind to me." Femi instantly felt goose bumps all over his body, though, he tried to suppress the delight in his heart with a simple "You're welcome." reply even without turning to face her.

Femi who felt fulfilled slept like a baby without any worries, bearing in mind that Ayo will undoubtedly agree to be his girlfriend when he decides to pop the question, or so he thought.....

CHAPTER 17

The following morning, after a long night of untold emotional attractions, a new day broke into a haven for endless possibilities.

The home theatre beeped suddenly, causing the album to commence playing in a rapid succession. The standing fan soon picked-up, with its blade rolling gradually from a lower to a higher pace. It only meant that PHCN had restored the long forsaken electricity. The music blaring hysterically finally put a halt to the slumber which seemed like it was going to last forever.

Femi pricked his eyes in reaction to the boisterous music; then, he turned to Ayo who also woke up promptly. Femi then stood up staggerly to lower the volume of the song, and then inquired from Ayo how her night had been. Gleeful she was, as she responded with a pretty smile. Thereafter, she arranged the mattrass, spreading the bed-cover nicely and then headed into the kitchen to prepare breakfast for their eating pleasure.

After a while, she stepped out from the kitched with a jug of hot tea on her left hand, and a sliced bread on the right. They began eating shortly, but not after they had collectively brushed their teeth using the same toothbrush.

Femi was amazed that they could both blend together easily despite knowing each other for only a short period of time. His likeness for her grew geometrically, and he was pretty sure that she was the right girl for him, with the hope that nothing could come between the both of them.

They got talking and engaged in personal conversations. It was a moment of truth as they both dug out their past relationships, and likely factors that possibly triggered the break-ups. Most bothering on issues of trust, pride, insecurity, ego-centrism, cheating amongst others. Each giving detailed explanations about their personality and temperament. Eventually, they both seemed to share alot in common, which connotes with the notion that "Likes attracts likes."

Ayo seemed interested in knowing more about Femi, as she listened with rapt attention whenever he had something up his sleeves to share. Nonetheless, she kept seducing him with her cute eyes, which made it seem as though she wasn't paying attention to their conversation in the first place.

It could be said that they both had feelings for one another, but it was only a matter of time before Femi would take the bull by the horn to profess his undying love to her.

At a point, it didn't appear as though Ayo was that girl who was homeless the previous night, as she completely acted like someone without any worries. Indeed, she was in safe hands. And on the other hand, Femi wasn't entirely the kind of guy who would make a lady to feel uncomfortable, or uneasy as he could pretend to be a gentleman whenever he deemed it fit, provided she meet up to a certain standard of decency and charisma.

Sooner than later, as the music continued playing, Ayo sprung up swiftly from the bed where she was seated, and challenged Femi to a dance, after increasing the volume of the song, which literally, was her favourite dancehall.

After series of rejection, Femi compromised to the pressure having battled the dancefloor with her by displaying his best dance moves including the much publicized "Shoki dance." which was far from impressive as Ayo flawlessly outdid his every move. Not contented, despite having won, she proceeded to giving him a serious lap-dance that got him sweating profusely. In the end, they both had a nice time dancing intimately with enormous desterity and energy. As nature would have it, the song shuffled to another genre of music dubbed blues, the track playing was the mouth-watering and romantic hit single from the enigmatic artiste John Legend titled "All of me." Magically, they both paused, staring at each other frantically, straight into the eyes, to what seemed like a kiss. Gradually, they drew closer by the second, but only retracted their lips when they were only few inches apart. The duo feigned ignorance to the beautiful but lossed moment, then Femi apologized shortly, as if strucked with guilt. It would most likely seem as though he was trying to take advantage of the priviledge which he had offered her.

Femi then confided in her that she could relocate to his place, if she wasn't comfortable staying with her roommate anymore, pending when she would be able to secure accommodation.

Later that morning, Ayo had gone back to her lodge with full hope that her roommate could expatiate thoroughly on the rationale surrounding her action. But after questioning the roommate, she showed little or no concern, and that degenerated into a heated argument between the both of them.

Ayo was very disappointed in her nonchalant behaviour, as she had obviously taken the roommate as her own sister, unknowily, that she could be so mean. At the end of the day, she had to pack her luggage and belongings and then moved in fully with Femi.

An impromptu decision that was indeed a step in the right direction..

CHAPTER 18

Sunday is inargueably the most interesting day of every week. Reason being that, a large number of people have stipulated that day as an avenue for fun seekers to satisfy their unending urge for social activities and escapades. Especially the younger generations, while in the religious angle, it as a day set aside as sabbat for christians to worship their maker.

On this particular sunday, unlike ever other sundays, Femi was particularly interested to attend church service eventhough he never liked the idea of attending church, insisting that he was a christian but not a gullible church goer. The rational behind his decision was however not far fetched. This is because, a man is likely to act diligent in all his doings, especially when there is a woman at his watch. Since they began staying together about a week ago, Ayo had really influenced Femi, though positively, which had also made him more responsible, thereby, living up to expectations.

Femi gracefully stepped out of his room wearing only a "Banana island." brand boxer. He was welcomed by his neighbours who began hailing him in different aphorism. Amongst them were Azeez and his mischievous roommate, Farooq. The both of them were "gyming up" that early morning, carrying different patterns of body weights and engaging in physical exercion. This was, however, a usual routine for them, as they made it a point of duty to always work out. After exchanging pleasantries, Femi had walked closer to them and joined in the exercise. Azeez and Farooq had sinced settled their differences.

About five minutes later, Ayo who was clad in a night gown ran towards Femi happily, she was holding two separate clothes and came to enquire which one would be more appropriate for her to wear to the service. Notwithstanding the fact that she kept on calling him "Baby" coupled with a sexy filtered voice which sent tongue wagging while others resolved to envy.

Femi choosed the dress which he loved the most, and then she cat-walked back to the room, purposely shaking her ass on display, which seemed to attract everyones attention. Almost immediately, Farooq gave Femi a "Married man" kind of look coupled with a sinister smile. Azeez collaborated as they both took turn to make jest of him playfully for cohabitating. Femi whose head nearly exploded due to blushing feigned ignorance and tried to change the topic.

"Make una continue dey whine me naw, wen una suppose go dress up make we attend church together." Femi said with a pinch of sarcasm knowing fully well that they were both muslims.

"No be only church, I go follow go Israel for pilgrimage." Azeez responded with a bigger sarcasm.

On a normal day, both Azeez and Farooq rarely went to mosque, let alone going to a church.

Femi was carried away by the physical exercion that he plunged deeply into the time slated for the first service holding at Redeemed christian fellowship (RCF) which is situated at the entrance towards "University Village." He later resolved to attend the second service.

After alot had been said and done, Femi left both Azeez and Farooq to continue with the gyming, while he headed back inside to get ready for church. Ayo was already dressed before he got inside, and when he was done, they both left the house together.

The second service of Redeemed christian fellowship was overly populated on that specific sunday. Apparently, the members who attended the first service had stayed back to attend the second, as the second service was cancelled in replacement of a "Love event" which was organised by a group in collaboration with the church. The auditorium was filled to the brim as few seats remained to accommodate other members. Femi and Ayo arrived the church and walked in majestically, standing side by side holding hands, as those who cared to stare, kept feeding their eyes. Bishop sighted them from afar and waved towards them to join him at the back where he was seated, he pleaded with an usher friend to bring along two chairs and with necessary adjustment, they were able to secure sitting positions. The theme for the programme was entitled: "Choosing the right partner." It kicked off perfectly with beautiful musical presentation from the delectable choir. Everyone seemed elated as the congregation who were mainly youths sang along. The guest speaker highlighted on the shortcoming of many christian relationships stressing the problems and possible solutions. Ayo interestingly payed keen attention to every single word the speaker said, and mid-way into the event, her countenance slightly changed into a moody state, and Femi promptly noticed it.

After the programme had ended, Bishop asserted that they go to his lodge, since Femi had refused visiting him for a while, not wanting any of his drama, Femi obligied and without hesitation they went to his lodge. Getting to his apartment, Skipo also came visiting not long after they entered the room, he was meeting Ayo for the first time.....

During the course of their discussion, Femi revealed that Ayo was staying with him for the time being, and that she was trying to secure a space in the hostel. Bishop who knew the hostel governess had called her immediately, informing her that he had a special candidate, hence, she should reserve a space for her. As per connection, Ayo was later allocated a space at "Inikpi girls hostel" without following the erratic but stressful hostel balloting process which wasn't a guarantee that one would ether be given a space or not. Ayo was very gleeful. Alas! She would have to relocate finally to the hostel the following week. Femi had really been a great source of help to her, and she could barely thank him enough.

It was indeed a moment of joy as everyone was in a good mood. Femi who kept seducing Ayo with sweet talks. Bishop who was yabbing Femi stylishly for having such a beautiful friend as Ayo. Skipo who didn't for once stop adding seasoning to the soup by cracking endless jokes. And finally Ayo who was flattered as she kept grinning endlessly.

It was a perfect loved-up scenario, and with the way things had turned out to be, Femi was now certain that he had found the perfect girl of his dreams, and nothing or anybody could come between them, or so he thought......

CHAPTER 19

The best and most beautiful moments in life are those spent together with friends, family, and basically loved ones in general. A true test of friendship supersedes all odds because the memories accumulated over a period of time will continue to linger in your heart.

Barely twenty minutes before the time slated for the commencement of yet another fixed lecture by the dreaded Mr. Bello Arome, students had already clouded the entire Idachaba Lecture theatre II, while others had to stand when they could not find any seat to utilize. Mr. Bello Arome was indeed a very strict lecturer in the department of sociology, kogi state university. He is knowned for purposely refusing to attend classes on the days stiputlated on the time-table, but would always fix lectures at his own convinience, and failure to attend attracts penalty. Bad attitude as he was fondly called by students which represent the first two initials of his name, was familiar by many with his principles which includes; no phone ringing during class, no side-talk, no going-out and coming-in, amongst many others. Also, no student is allowed to miss any of his classes, as he would always take down attendance, ensuring that nobody gets to sign for another person absent, his possible action being that he may use the attendance list as continuous assessment, and should his record show that a student missed classes about five times in a semester, that student would not be allowed to write the examination. He could be linked to a dare-devil because of his so-called bad attitude which had made him infamous and hated by many un-serious students.

It had been a month since lectures had commenced, while some students were re-united with their course-mates after returning from the long mid-break, others had made new friends especially with the direct-entry students who were newly admitted. Ayo had made quite a number of new friends, though, Femi still remained her best-friend in the department. The both of them were very close to the extent that people actually thought they were dating.

On that specific day, Ayo had came late for lecture, whilst she walked into the lecture theatre, Femi who was seated at the extreme row of the classroom sighted her promptly and beckoned at her with a hand gesture, he had reserved a seat for her. Ayo got the drift and began approaching him gleefully, she was glad that she won't have to stand for the two hours of the lecture, she had barely walked through the middle of the stairs when Ibrahim blocked her on the way and began throwing advances towards her, she tried walking away from him non-chalantely but he swiftly held her hand and dragged her backward. Ayo seemed uninterested in whatever he had to say, albeit, she didn't protest much, still, Ibrahim wouldn't take no for an answer. It wasn't the first time he had approached her in such manner, though she kept turning down his flows, but Ibrahim was hell-bent on including her to the number of girls whom he had sampled in the department. As though blocking her way wasn't enough, he moved his hand towards her hair and began twirling it in a romantic way, this singular act got Femi really furious as his heart-beat increased two times faster, his legs shaking vigorously and blood vessels pumping through his veins sporadically. Femi composed himself and suppress his wrath not wanting to create a scene knowing that the consequences of his reaction would definitely lead to his rustication from school.

Ayo forcefully removed his hand from her hair and walked away from him disguistingly. Ibrahim felt embarrassed but he had no worries, since he had dealt with more tougher girls in the past but they later succumbed, hence, her case was nothing but a small challenge. He scornfully observed as she walked towards Femi while trying to shade his embarrassment with a sinister smirk.

Femi feigned ignorance when he saw her coming as though he hadn't been watching the drama, his heart-beat had suddenly began to subside. He probably wouldn't have reacted inwardly should it be some guy who had approached her, but for the fact that it was Ibrahim, everything was wrong.

Ibrahim is the son of a popular business mogul based in Abuja. The people who knew him down to the marrow had revealed how he steals his father's money to live a lavish lifestyle. 'I.B Money' as he was dubbed by friends was a kind of celebrity wannabe who changes expensive phones and wears the best designer in town. Ibrahim spends ostentatiously on the ladies in a bid to get them laid, hence, they kept flocking around him. Rumours had it that he had slept with most girls in the department, and Femi even confirmed one of those tales from a reliable source, since he had also slept with the same girl who was a renowned olosho sharing her veejay to every John, Dick, and Harry, so long the guy had some cash to spoil her. Though that happened long ago, even before he met Ayo, and he had since stopped womanizing, or so he felt..

CHAPTER 20

The grudge between Ibrahim and Femi started long ago when they both realized that they slept with the same girl in the department. It wasn't entirely a big deal since the girl was a cheerful giver, but Ibrahim blew it out of proportion knowing that Femi slept with her when he obviously knew he was already pressing buttons before him, which kind of belittle his standard as a suppose abj big boy. Ever since then, Ibrahim had always wanted to get back at Femi, and upon realizing that Ayo was very close to Femi, he decided to strike.

Femi sluggishly stood up for Ayo to enter the space he had reserved for her, and while doing so, she hugged him in the process but Femi acted indifferent as he barely reciprocated the gesture, she could deduce that he was unhappy about what recently happened between her and Ibrahim but neither of them said anything.

Silence ensued afterwards and just then, Mr. Bello Arome made a ghost appearance as he stormed the lecture theatre in commando style, and then he clossed the two adjacent doors which served as the only entrance into the classroom. The boisterous classroom suddenly became calm and co-ordinated. Dozens of students who came a second late and others who had stepped outside to get something were unable to get back inside. The aggrieved students stood outside hoping that the lecturer would change his mind, but to no avail.

Mr. Bello started the lecture by telling one of his boring cöck and bull story about his university days as an undergraduate, and how students were very serious with their studies unlike now in our own dispensation. This wasn't unusual as he was fond of gisting for about an hour, whist using the remaining one hour to lecture. Most times, he seldomly completes his core course and then ask students to read on their own. To make issues worst, he set out to conduct an impromptu test that moment, which entails about 30 marks while others outside were deprived of writing the continuous assessment. This didn't go down well with some male students numbering about five, they banged the classroom door furiously and attempted coming inside, Mr. Bello Arome quickly rose to the occasion and jammed the door back before giving them a stern warning to back off. The students were unsatisfied as one of them pushed the entrance door opened yet again, which saw the stunned lecturer moving backward in shock as he almost tripled to the ground. The other guys acted quickly, then, the remaining students started flooding inside in their numbers, while Mr. Bello Arome stood agap without reacting. After everyone had successfully gotten inside; he dropped the bombshell saying that unless those five guys were singled out, the next time they would see him would be on the day of examination, and then he walked out of the lecture theatre.

The whole place was thrown into tantrum, some students were displeased as they registered their displeasure by lamenting how the lecturer was going to fail students purposely, while others were scared that the action taken by those mischievous students spelt doom. Then, people started departing the classroom in a distasteful mood while others stayed back to see the last of the issue.

Femi complained bitterly having escaped a possible carry-over of a course administered by the lecturer during his hundred level. Ayo was quite inquisitive and perplexed not knowing much about the lecturer, as a direct-entry student.

The class rep was immediately summoned concerning the issue, and after series of intensive discussions and cajoling, the five guys who were the prime students that initiated the onslaught decided that they would pay a courtesy visit to the lecturer, to apologize to him specially, in order not to jeopardize the efforts of hundreds of innocent students who were not guilty.

After the meeting had ended, everyone were a bit relieved since they had concluded to visit the lecturer. Femi then suggested to Ayo that they go to a chilling spot to eat lunch. They walked outside the classroom towards the '7up centre and got seated. Femi ordered for snacks and beverages which were the only items sold there. After eating to their satisfaction, they left the store, and Femi began escorting her back to the hostel. Just before she walked inside the hostel, Femi braced himself up and asked her to be his girlfriend, he was pretty sure that she wouldn't turn down his request, but to his utmost surprise, Ayo complained about not being ready for a relationship since she was still a new student and then implored him to be a bit patient if he truly loved her. Femi's high expectation suddenly dropped to the lowest minimum. Disappointment was written all over his face but he pretended not to be sad. He didn't counter her decision, instead, he made her see reasons why they shouldn't just be friends anymore, but lovers. Ayo acknowledged everything he had done for her but still insisted that he give her some time to think about the request......

However, Femi gave her the benefits of doubt, and didn't bugged her afterwards. He bid her farewell while she entered the hostel. Femi then mounted a bike and headed to his apartment. On getting to his room, he seemed fatigued, saying he was depressed would be an understatement. Ayo's refusal to accept his proposal still came as a shock to him. Patience couldn't have been the case, since he had been patient enough before popping the question which made her excuse seemingly invalid. He laid down on his bed pondering and trying to decipher where he got it all wrong but he just couldn't figure it out.

At that moment, he left his room and headed to his neighbours' room where he met Azeez and Farooq devouring a plate of beans garnished with green leaves.

"Femo! How far na?" Azeez said.

"Baba I just dey here dey patch patch myself together." Femi replied.

"You na boss naw, so how that your Jackie Appiah girlfriend." Farooq said referring to Ayo. This was because she actually looked like the ghanian actress, except that she doesn't have big eyes.

"Na her mata carry me come here sef." Femi said.

"Wetin dey sup?" Azeez enquired.

"Hmmm.... Na long story."

"Anyway before you begin tell us wetin hapun, come make we cha dis food together first." Farooq blurted. He prolly never liked Ayo for no reason whatsoever.

Femi obliged and joined then to eat the sumptuous looking beans. A wrong move which was about to change his life forever.......

CHAPTER 21

That awkward moment when your head suddenly becomes too big for the neck to hold, your vision blurred and your veins reacting to a liquid movement as though blood is being pumped into your body stream, and then you start hearing eerie voices speaking to you inside your head. Then know that shit has gotten real!! Unfortunately, Femi was in one of such situations, and only the end could justify the means.

The palatable meal was packaged with enough fresh pumpkin leaves to conceal the hidden content that is capable of transforming a sane man into a complete idiot in the twinkle of an eye. Apparently, Femi ate to his satisfaction without suspecting anything as he thought they were ordinary vegetables. After they had finished doing justice to the harm-less looking beans, Azeez began laughing sheepishly.

"Wetin dey amuse you?" Femi said.

"Na own na play, na you I dey laugh like dis, so as you eat this beans finish, you nor notice say weed dey inside." Azeez fired.

"Mtcheew... I tink say na beta thing you wan even talk sef.. Shey na today bobz begin dey smoke weed." Femi said unconcerned.

Azeez was stunned by his statement, it obviously took them unexpectedly which sent a big blow to their faces. They knew Femi never bought the idea of consuming hard-drugs or smoking stating the dangers it had on the body. Perhaps, he had secretly started smoking wraps of "Mary Jay." in his room, or so he thought.

"See your life, e be like your nor know say cooked-weed dey high pass wen pesin smoke am." Farooq thundered.

"Ogbeni, forget that thing. Eventhough I eat five plates of this beans, e no go shake me from here to there." Femi bragged again.

Farooq felt intimidated, he had been a chain smoker of hemp and skunk for many years, and he had experienced countless trips of people who ate "Rugged Beans." and almost went loco, most of which were drug-lords and also those consuming marijuana for the first time. But there was Femi seating comfortably without an iota of highness, or perhaps, his body could be immune to the effect. Impossible! Farooq challenged him to eat another round of the food and see if his life would remain the same. They both agreed and then Farooq dashed into kitchen to dish the food himself. Azeez warned him not to proceed but Femi insisted.

Azeez allowed him but also cautioned him that he won't last the next ten minutes before the food would start reacting on him, Femi chuckled and went ahead anyway. He had only eaten three spoons out of the food then he noticed that a heavy wind blew passed his body in a rapid succession. He ignored the signal and continued doing justice to the food. Two minutes later, he attempted taking another chunk of the food, then the spoon mistakenly fell from his hand, thereby spilling some of the beans to the tilled floor. Femi sluggishly dropped the main food on his palm, and began feeding the ones which fell to the floor using his bare hand.

"Wetin you dey do?" Azeez asked a rhetorical question.

"Chilax naw, I no want make the food get left-over, dem no dey waste food for my house." Femi defended himself, and then stood up staggerly leaving the food behind. He walked toward a mirror hung on the wall and discovered that his eyes were blood red, then he picked a black shade from the trolley and wore it over his eyes. Before one could say "Skiibii" Femi placed the both of his hands firmly on his waist and began walking continuously on a circle while reciting the Nigerian national anthem. At this point, Azeez and Farooq knew that he had gotten to "Cloud 9." and then played along. Farooq started mocking him when he couldn't control himself anymore. After he was done reciting the national anthem which he barely sang properly, Femi proceeded to saying the national pledge by placing his right palm on his chest and stood still like a military man. Farooq bursted into another round of uncontrolled laugher, while Azeez who was trying not to laugh suddenly followed suit. The hilarious scenario could be compared to a comedy show, but in this case, they needed not pay in order to be entertained, Femi was displaying to them free of charge.

"1..2..3..4.. Attention, At ease!!" This wasn't a group of soldiers in a parade ground. Instead, it was Femi parading himself in the most sophisticated way, he was displaying like the men in uniform as he kept marching sporadically. At a time, he marched towards the door and attempted going outside, but Azeez quickly rushed towards him and bolted the door with keys preventing him from gaining freedom. He acted quickly so people wouldn't suspect that he was under the influence as the aftermath may not be favourable.

"Make I go outside, I wan go pee." Femi said with a weak tone stressing the pee.

"Oya go pee for bathroom inside, you no suppose go outside since you no dey alright." Azeez lamented.

"You dey mad! Na your fada no dey alright." Femi fired with confidence, obviously, he wasn't in control anymore, the weed had taken over him.

CHAPTER 22

They kept arguing before Femi agreed to pee using the bathroom toilet. On getting back to the room, he had already pee on himself with little drops of urine evident on his chinos trouser. This was only the beginning of his trips. Just then, he began twerking his ass while professing his love for nicki minaj by imitating her dance moves in the anaconda music video. Farooq cared less about his predicament as he fell to the floor rolling in laughter. Azeez then advised him to relax on the bed and stop moving about as that would enable him gain relief easily which he obliged to. It was no longer time for mind games, he accepted defeat knowing that he was indeed high. But Farooq wasn't satisfied, he wanted the fun to continue.

Farooq then changed his voice to that of a fierce monster, as he attempted to sound like lucifer.

"Femi, Femi, Femi!! This is the voice of satan the devil, you're being called from the underworld. Sadly, you've failed the test of morality, you're no longer fit to continue existing as a human, hence, I'm revoking your soul to the place where you rightly belong. Come!! Come!! Come!!" Farooq said laughing widely.

Femi yipped in fear thinking he was hallucinating. The voice of farooq kept repeating in his head, and he thought the devil was actually calling on him. Suddenly, he squeezed himself firmly towards the wall, sprawling his hands awkwardly whilst trying to wade himself against any evil agent wanting to take him to the underworld.

"Fire, Fire, Fire, Fire!!" Femi thundered repeatedly. He began scratching his body saying he was in hell-fire, then he started confessing all his sins and begged God for forgiveness and said to himself inwardly that should God deliver him from that mess, he would become a born-again christian and never indulge in sinful activities anymore, or so he felt.

At that instance, it seemed as though he fell into a quick trance where he saw himself being hurled into a deep hole without an ending. His head kept spinnig around in an anti-clockwise manner as he delve into the darkest part of the hole. Finally, he fell to the end, but the place was so dark that he couldn't see himself. He could only move around using his head and hands while his feet were stretched upwards. A dim light suddenly appeared from no where and interrupted his thought, then he could see sparingly, the hole was filled with rats and monster spiders which hung on various webs. The experience was terrifying, Femi was sweating enormously with his heart beating twice faster, he saw the rats approaching towards him in group with their eyes illuminating in the dark. Femi was very scared, he thought the worst couldn't happen but he was dead wrong. A gaint cloak figure accompanied the rats staring frantically at him, the cloak figure was shapeless and tall with two horns hanging on its head. The strange gaint then squatted and its physique could be very visible this time. It had three huge eyes with few teeth on its mouth and a tiny nostril. The cloak gaint slowly stretched its hands forwards trying to grab Femi then a mighty whirlwind appeared and wrapped around him, before leaping him drastically back to the room where he saw Azeez and Farooq still laughing. They seemed oblivious about his encounter with a strange gaint. At that point, he concluded that it was game over for him, had he knew that the food was spiced with weed in the first place, he would have bluntly rejected the offer, but now he would live to regret his action.

"Madness loading.....80%" Azeez blurted laughing sheepishly. Indeed, he was having alot of fun, as that was the highest trips he had experienced from someone who was bragging that weed couldn't have any effect on him.

"I don maya, I don maya oo, I don turn majek fashek!!" Femi muttered lovely above his voice, he sprung up shortly and headed for the door, he tried to unlock it but his efforts were rendered frutile. Femi then rushed towards the window protector and tried to pull it down with the last strength he had. Seeing that there was no hope, he started shouting and wailing for help, while repeating the words that he was about to run mad.

Azeez tried to hold him back but instead, Femi engaged him in a brawl, that was when they knew that his case had gotten out of hand, it was no longer a laughing matter. Farooq soon joined Azeez and quickly held his mouth before he would implicate them. They both bundled him to the bed and conditioned him to sleep which is even worst than him catching the trips. Fortunately, Farooq and Azeez were only helping him to regain quick relief by allowing him to misbehave and mis-yarn, as that would enable him become sane easily. But since water don pass garri, na to allow him sleep sure pass.

Femi complained that he was catching a cold, Farooq then covered him with a thick blanket and cautioned him to avoid talking and just sleep. Farooq was really scared to the bone as he never thought the weed could react so badly on him.

CHAPTER 23

Later that day at about 7:24pm, Femi woke up only to discover that he was the only person in the room, both Azeez and Farooq were no where to be found. He walked towards the mirror and discovered that his eyes were no longer red but his head was still banging hard as though somebody was hitting an hammer on it. He then walked outside and saw Farooq and Azeez carrying weights as usual, on sighting him, they left the weight aside and ran towards him with usain bolt speed.

"Morning!!" Femi greeted none of them in particular.

"Hahahaha... Your own na play. Na morning we dey abi evening?" Farooq asked a silly question which Femi stylishly ignored knowing he had just skipped.

"So you go still eat rugged beans again?" Azeez threw another mouth watering question at him as though expecting a negative response.

"Why not?" Femi bragged again answering his question with another question.

"Tor... Make we sha enter inside."

Femi began narrating everything he experienced during his slumber. He talked about how he struggled for hours before he was able to catch some sleep. He said, he kept seeing images of people he knew and those he had never met before in his dream. He would transformed from one stage of his life-time to another, and at a point, he thought everything was real. His mind even transported him way back to childhood memories and he remembered everything just like yesterday. Azeez then told him that it was normal for people to recall childhood moments when intoxicated with weed for the first time, as one could literally reason a thousand and one things in a split second. Femi seconded the explanation saying that was exactly what happened to him. Also, he wished to experience the trips again which he described as 'amazing' only that he ate too much of the food, and because he wasn't aware about the weed at first made the effect to take the better part of him. Hence, he would not hesitate to regulate his guage next time. But despite eating much, he felt a different kind of hunger that made it seem as though he hadn't eaten for weeks.

Femi enquired if they had any food at home, but they both shook their heads in the negative. It ironical how boyz who are addicted would rather smoke grass and do drugs, instead of using the money to do more pressing things like cooking real food. It's really pathetic that hemp had actually replaced food for most stoners, because not smoking a day could seemingly be life-threatening.

Anyway, Femi gave Farooq some money and implored him to help buy some food for him which would go a long way in rehabilitating his stomach infrastructure. Farooq went and came back with fried-yam and bean-cake popularly knows as Akara and a bottle of chilled coca-cola beverage. Femi ate to his satisfaction and when asked what he wanted to say about Ayo, he heaved a sigh of relief and began narrating how he met her in the school digital centre, collected her number and they got talking. He got to know that she was homeless, so he took her in - when her then roommate cared-less if she existed. At a time, he even smuggled her course-form alongside his own to a lecturers' office during clearance for signing, but then the lecturer humiliated him by calling him 'woman wrapper' in the presence of his course-mates who were mainly females. He also helped her to secure a space in the hostel without her going through the hostel balloting using the assistance of his friend, Bishop. During the entire time she stayed in his room, she was eating his food, sleeping on his bed while he willingly slept on the coarse rug most of the time. His expenses drastically increased as he was always trying to ensure that everything was in order. And to crown it all, he never demanded for sex the entire time, which wouldn't be wrong if he did, since she was also benefiting from him in other ways. He only felt it was paramount to be nice to her and also become her friend before proposing to her but only to be rejected at the end. It seemed as though she ended up friend-zoning him after all he did for her, or so he thought. It was quite touching listening to him as he poured out his heart. It could pass for a playboy turned loverboy who eventually got his ass dumped. Little wonder it was said in Chris brown's hit track "Loyal" that when a nigga falls in love, he turns into a pusssy, cos he would definitely go to any length to make the lady happy, though, not putting into considering whether she would reciprocate the gesture by making him happy in return.

Azeez felt indifferent saying she would definitely come back for him if she truly loved him, but Farooq quickly countered that, saying she would do no such thing, while comparing her to every other 'fresher' girls on campus who would abandon their broke boyfriend who stood by them when they were 'JJC, but the moment they start mingling with people, they won't hesitate to initiate a break-up when a rich guy who is willing to spend more money comes into the picture.

....continuation

Farooq stated how he was very disappointed with Femi thinking he was actually sleeping with her all along, not knowing that they were both doing eye-service.

Femi linked the broke-rich guy theory which Farooq gave to himself and Ibrahim, then he knew for a fact that he had already loosed-guard. Although, he wasn't a broke ass nigga, but compared to the kind of wealth which Ibrahim possesses, he could as well be called a broke ass nigga.

Farooq went ahead advising him that he should forget about Ayo, stating reasons why campus-relationships would only end at the school-gate without actually leading to marriage, and to a large extent, he was right. Trying to keep a serious relationship with girls in higher institutions isn't worth the stress afterall. Femi began having a re-think concerning his new-year resolution about keeping a long lasting relationship without having to kpansh every girl that came across his path. There is no point forcing somebody to love you when it doesn't comes freely from the heart. Perhaps, he was wrong all along, it seemed being a playboy is the best option afterall in order to avoid heart-break. Femi then told Azeez and Farooq that he had listened to their contribution, and that he appreciated their opinions, but only time would determine the truth. Just then, he stood up and walked straight to his room to cool down his head without any disturbance, and continue his sleep.

***********
The following day, he woke up in the late hours of the morning, with a very huge erection on his trouser. The bulge made him a bit uncomfortable as though his dick was going to pull-off - if it doesn't subside anytime soon. The morning erection was unusual as Mr. John Thomas refused to subside, in fact, it became very turgid and rugged. Obviously, it was the effect of the weed eventhough he was no longer under the influence, but the weed still had last minute effect on his almighty bulala. Femi thought about going to the bathroom to take a cold bath if that would help reduce his stubborn third leg, just then, the unexpected happened.

"Knock, Knock, Knock!!" Said a tiny feminine voice.

"Who's there?" Femi asked perplexed.

"It's me, Juliet!!" She said.

"Juliet, oh shit!!!" Femi blurted inwardly while looking at the condition of his dick......
