This goes to show that God is the controller of the world's resouces and wealth(deuteronomy8vs18) and He chooses to give it to whom He wills.God told Solomon that none will be as wealthy as he is before and after his lifetime(1kings3vs8-13). The problem he had was that he misuse the "Grace" that God gave him no wonder he later wrote that being wealthy is vanity. if wealth and riches is not properly harnessed for the right cause it may become a curse. He gave away so much gold on his trips that the local economies suffered inflations for 10 yrs.
