Pls which engine oil is best for tiny light 1998 model (uk spec)

I use total synthetic oil on my 1998 Toyota Camry though its American model. I use it for 6 months and it is sold around N8350 at Total petrol stations only

I started using A-Z 3 months ago and i hav used it twice and and d car smokes everytime d engine is cold until it becomes hot.. Then d smoke disappears.

you are on the verge of destroying that engine am sure your recommended engine oil is rated at 5w30 or 5W20 but seems you prefer the cheap and popular engine oil. let's know the rating of the A-Z so we can help you not to damage your car engine

I know someone who drives this exact model . He uses Total Quartz 5000 I think that goes for 3000 that's what I even use for my V6 big engine and its been doing fine for 3 years now . That Mobil may be too costly ooooo

but your manufacturer says use 5W20 or 5W30, the A-Z is rated 20W50 it may not be too late to revert back to the recommended oil type, the A-Z may work but it will definitely have its side effect which may show in a couple of years later

Manufacturer have done their research when they recommend a specific viscosity that work best for your engine .If you want your car to give you the best in term of performance , fuel mileage and least parts breakdown sticks to the recommended oil but if otherwise you can as well pour palm oil inside your engine and start praying for miracle for it to turn to synthetic engine oil.

Mobil 5w30 will be definitely costly because the protection and advantages it will give your car.

Well I agree with u but can oil be changed at any point in the lifetime of a car?

the average change of oil for mineral oil should not be more than 5000 km cos of the ease of breakdown of additives when compared to synthetic oil which is built to last longer up to or more than 5000 miles .

I won't advice anyone running 5w20 on a 1998 Camry especially a high mileage engine. 5w30 is okay, but if its burning the oil, then OP should switch to 5w40 synthetic

But before he even does the switch, he should drain the oil in the engine, then pour diesel into the engine oil compartment of the engine, turn ignition and let engine idle for 40-45minutes to clean off engine, then drain off diesel completely and discard oil filter. Then he can pour in his new oil and install a new filter.

first of all, I believe it is said that the most important mark on the oil rating is the first number before the W not the number after.

I bought my sienna with a ODO reading of 300,000km and I have been using 5W40 fullsynthetic for more than a year and I have not had any issue, I intended to use the recommended 5W30 but I didn't find it from our local reputable fueling stations what they had was 5W40.

can you explain/expantiate the diesel pouring phenomenon you talked about, this is the 2nd time am hearing it but nobody wan expantiate on the pros and cons.

If u need to change brand just ensure you are changing to same engine oil grade and viscosity that is what matter .
